Alejo68 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Hi, I definetly would like to purchase the Dora, but every time I check the servers, I do not see too much people flying ww2 a/c´s. I intend to fly it online only, but at the current price, it wouldn´t make any sense if this is not possible with others. I understand you fly online as I intend to, so, Am I mistaken or I just checked at the wrong moment? I would appreciate your opinion before deciding to hit the button. Thank you very much. Alejo 1
gavagai Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 We're all waiting for the Spitfire. Thinks will pick up again after its release. Vedexent Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Depending on your Internet connection, you can also host multi-player. You could find a group of like minded WWII enthusiasts, and one or more of you (not at same time, naturally) could host for the group. Or you could build/download/edit a WWII MP aircraft mission throw it up on the server network with you hosting, and wait for people to drop in. If you do it on a weekend, you'd probably have a good chance of at least a few people showing up. 1

QuiGon Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 There are at least two decent servers for WW2: The Dogs of War server and the ACG server. And then there is Case Blue: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=163385. It's the most fun I've ever had in DCS WW2, but it only runs from time to time. We're all waiting for the Spitfire. Thinks will pick up again after its release. I'm also looking forward to the Spitfire, but what we're all really waiting for is Normandy :) 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Talisman_VR Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Many are also waiting to see if air-to-air visibility can be represented in a reasonable way. The imposter system is truly awful in its current form and puts many people off. I believe that the success of the WWII project will stand or fall on the issue of air-to-air visibility. We desperately need more realistic levels of air-to-air visibility. Happy landings, Talisman 1
Weegie Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 A tad off topic but I don't know if you're a hot shot or, like me, luke warm on a good day. You will have a lot of fun (especially if you don't have the 109 either) just getting that bird off the deck and back down in one piece. Its a lot of fun just mastering the basics I also think that the 109 is the better performer of the 2 axes aircraft, but I love the Dora and spend more time in it than anything else

We've got a group of 30 or so pilots, many of whom are ready to switch from BoS to DCS as soon as we have a proper ww2 sandbox.

Alejo You are always welcome to visit the Dogs of War server. We could definitely use more Axis pilots to fly with. The participation varies a great deal but there are still a good number of us who fly MP and I expect the numbers to improve with the release of the Spit & Normandy. Cheers. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] [Dogs of War] WWII COMBAT SERVER | P-51D - FW190-D9 - Me109-K4 Visit Our Website & Forum to Get More Info & Team Speak Access

Well good sir you gonna have to w8 for that map for some years .. but i'm sure it's going to be perfect when it finally gets to us. BoS it's nice but it's just unfair and unrealistic i've seen ppl complaining here about dcs and "russian bias" .. they should play BoS ... Russian planes 1000 holes in the engine and wings .. happy dogfighting another 2, win and landing, german planes 2 bullets and you are gone and the energy, my god the energy bias :)) russian planes are on red bull while german ones are old farts. It forces you to play russian side cuz nobody will put with that shit from the geman side ... i fly russian , hell all the ppl that i know playing BoS fly russian because of this lol Here. this guy nails the problem :) Edited June 3, 2016 by predattak 1
x39crazy Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Well if it's a matter of years then we will have to learn to make due I suppose. The portion of the Black Sea that we have populated could pass for the Adriatic coast of the Balkans I suppose. ETA: ya, I'm not impressed with BoS. 1

When you place an ex-Yugoslavia map over current Caucasus map it is veeeery similar. But do check out this thread if you haven't: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=166947 1 Don't ask, here's the answer: 95% of my posts are edited because I have OCD.

ctguy1955 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 If I have flown 1000 hours online in the WWII servers, I think only two hours have been spent not flying alone. I constantly see "Ghost" planes all over the place and when You follow them, and get close, they are suddenly gone. I dont know what causes this but it happens just about every time. I really love the Dora and over time I have gotten to the point where I never crash on takeoff and am getting much better at landing. Many of the servers have ping rates of over 170 and some of the ones on my list are 50-80, but do not have WWII planes. If they do have em, You get shot down with missiles or ground troops with modern equipment. I would really like to be part of a team of flyers, Im retired and have all the time in the world to have FUN !
BodyOrgan Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 The ghost planes are actually planes. What you're seeing is called model enlargement. The plane is so far away and your monitor simply doesn't have enough pixels to render an aircraft at that distance without it being a dot (single pixel), so the game enlarges the model allowing you to see the aircraft. The problem arises when you begin to approach the aircraft at some point the game determines you're close enough that it can render the aircraft without model enlargement. This creates a small window where you can't see the plane again till you close in some more, and even then you'll probably need to be completely zoomed in to see it.

While BoS has it's problems and those problems are being addressed, it is not as nearly as bad as you make it out to be. I fly both sides and I get kills on both sides. It doesn't take more to shoot down Russians and tbh, the Russian planes are slower than the Germans, as they should be.
