...But we still have the default loadouts...

Just not in MP. No heaters at all there..:(

EDIT: replacing Scripts/Database/planes/F-15C.lua with the one from OpenAlpha seems to solve the problem in SP at least.

You mean because they are invisible or because they track like ballistic rockets?

Also flankers are immune to F15 guns but that belongs in another thread I guess.

loaded a quick mission f15/su27. guns worked just fine; what exactly is immune about them?

they track like balistic rockets because you are launching them pulling to many G's, try shooting when not pulling so many G's and they actually work.

No, they don't because if you shoot them head-on directly on the intercept point, as soon as the ennemy shoots ONE flare the missile goes for the mysterious bright glowing light.

But that's been like that forever.

5 or 6 patches ago several of the IR missiles got a countermeasure rejection upgrade. IIRC both the R-73 and AIM-9M were included. Favourable parameters seem to make quite a difference to the IR missile Pk.

In MP i noticed that you have to lead the pipper in front of your target to actually hit it.

Maybe that's what he is on about?

I think it has to do with the new netcode. Targets aren't where they are shown on your screen. It seems that your game and the server aren't really synced up, which is why you have to aim infront of your target to hit it (and maybe also why the missiles don't really work).

I think you are right.

No, R-73 could hit you through a 10G turn and 60 flares because of the 30seconds spool down time from AB of the F-15

I have never seen that accuracy!? I defeat any R-73(any heater) quite easily.

You fly in the 27, so that's normal, but in the F-15 there is a long delay to get out of afterburner (5-ish seconds). During this time, as you are in afterburner, flares have little effect. Of course, in favorable parameters you can defeat R-73, but most of the time, you can't do much if you were in AB when the missile was launched.

i fly both. IMO comes down to the pilot only.

You've never seen a diference between the F-15 and other planes? I fly the mirage and I sure have, as the mirage's AB comes off instantly. In the F-15, no matters how many flares you put out so long as you were in AB when the missile was launched (and in proper paremeter ie no dogfight Rmin launch) its a hit. I can tell you it's not only the pilot, but anyway...who cares anymore as SRM are now as effective as bricks.

That 5 seconds is just animation time. If you drop out of afterburner your fuel flow will drop pretty much instantaneously which indicates that there's lot less heat coming out of your tail pipes at that time. Flares also become much more effective just as quickly as fuel flow drops.

I was watching ACMIs more carefully and noticed that pre 1.5.4 missiles would track the intercept point with their velocity vector pretty much in real time while in 1.5.4 missiles can take even 1-2s to correct their aim after target makes a maneuver which puts them in a position where they can't turn tight enough at end game to make the intercept.
