No Fear
Hi guys! I am new here but this is a very interesting topic. The first flight sim that I was impressed by was F/A-18 Interceptor in Amiga(yes I go back a loooong time!) and since then I have played almost every sim that has been released. My favorites though are: Lock On and Jane's USAF especially the new add-ons Super Pro 9.4 and MiniPro with thousands of missions, hundreds of flyable airplanes, new weapons, flight models, aircraft carriers and so on!Online flying too!It runs on Win XP as well. You can check it out at: http://www.gulfknight.net/forum/index.php Of course Lock On is the one that feels really good and is what we say 'eye candy'. Take care. PS:This is a great forum .Great source of info too from what it seems a good bunch of people.Keep it up! Fighter pilots make movies.Bomber pilots make history! You can fool some people all the time, all the people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time!

airea
Didn't anybody try Jane's Longbow2? It was a great sim (not arcade) for its era, around 1997 I guess. The game had the best tutorial section I had ever seen... Not to mention the complex avionics and such stuff...
HellMutt
Yes, I do remember Jane's Longbow (and played it quite a lot). Old to new (list not complete, only PC-games) : Hokum (helicopter game) MS Flight simulator (5.0 i believe it was) DID's EF2000 DID F22/TAW DID Typhoon Jane's USAF Jane's USN Jane's Longbow (not sure if 1 or 2) Jetfighters A-10 Cuba LOMAC Flaming Cliffs F4:AF Flaming Cliffs being the one that I have played most (both in hours played and in years playing the same game). rattler
How it started novalogic f-16 Mig29- fulcrum f-22 lightning 3 comanche 4 jet fighter 4 jet fighter 5 lockon il2 sturmovik f/a18 Operation Iraqi freedom flanker 2.51 falcon4AF wish they had kept going with f-22 lightning 3, had possibilities. still fly it once in a while for fun. Also comanche 4. Lockon and falcon4 AF are the two and I hope lockon will become what we all would like to see, it is my favorite with falcon4AF close behind. In lockon I only fly the f15c. My choice, nice a/c to fly. Hoping that sometime it will be upgraded. Not big on russian a/c accept for maybe the mig29 seeing as novalogic got me started with that one so I am used to some of its systems. Not as good as lockon but enough that I can handle her.Cheers. Shaman
It all started on ZX Spectrum/ Timex, with some crappy games... most of the things you can find on Migman's Flight Sim Museum listed in the '80, I did play http://www.migman.com :D On my first own PC AT, the very first flight sims I had were Fighter Bomber , and MS Flight Sim 4.0... then had lots of fun with F-15 Strike Eagle II and F-19.. then it went really fast... lots of sims; my very first multiplayer experience was in Retaliator, Dogfight, Topgun (Fire at will I guess).. it was so long time ago, man I remember having lots of fun flying multiplayer with good ol' friend of mine, he's in jail right now :*( poor bastard then there was no good multiplayer experience till F-18 Korea... I guess things went really fast and serious with Su-27 Flanker 1.0-1.5, and F/18 Hornet 3.0 and Korea for me. then Flanker 2.0.. these are the tiles I think I spent most of my time. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

FanBoy2006.01
F19 (286) F117 (386) Chuck Yeager's Air Combat (That was a great sim!) DID EF2000 (I loved this sim. I bought two and gave one away to a friend.). DID F22 ADF (Also great sim.). Janes AH64D Longbow (Something like that. Very good.). Microsoft Combat Flight Sim I (Average) and II (Good.) Janes USAF (OK-ish) Janes WWII Fighters (Big disapointment. Game was great, but couldn't get my joystick to work with it correctly.). Microprose European Air War (Loved it.). IL2 Sturmovik, Forgotten Battles and Pacific Fighters (Needless to say: Best WWII flight sims ever!) LOMAC! (Yeah! My favourate of all time. I like to refer to it as IL2 - Modern Battles!) Just to get this of my chest. I bought MS Century of Flight from a friend a couple of months ago. I paid half the price for it of what it cost in the store. Yet it cost me exactly the same as what I had paid for IL2 Forgotten Battles and LOMAC together (Brand new from the store.)! Man what a dissapointment. Played it only once and then I removed it. If you have to compare flight sims with driving games; combat sims would be like driving sports cars (In a high speed chase by the police and in the middle of a gun fight!) and civilian flight sims would be like diving a bus or a taxi. What the hell!

snowdawg
I got started back in the 90's on my brothers old atari. I think the game was called Mig Ally. Two of us could dogfight on a split screen. We played it for hours on end. Broke my first joystick on that game. Since then I've played most of the Pc Flight sims mentioned so far.
