Seaeagle Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Or keep the KC-135 as is and introduce a KC-130?
Sweep Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Or, they could bring back the KC-10 which has both boom and drogue on the centerline. Or keep the KC-135 as is and introduce a KC-130? Lord of Salt
SkateZilla Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) Or, they could bring back the KC-10 which has both boom and drogue on the centerline. I dont remember seeing a basket on the LockOn KC-10. And only 1 Refuel Point was listed in the LUA. USSInchon Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I dont remember seeing a basket on the LockOn KC-10. And only 1 Refuel Point was listed in the LUA. Being a very dated model, perhaps a newer version would be in order (a kid can dream anyways).
Highwayman-Ed Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 +1 for re-introducing a KC-10. A lot of the tanker ops over Afghanistan that I’m reading about with the AV-8B NA Harriers out of Bagram we’re KC-10’s because of the flexibility to refuel any receiver. Lt. Scribbles Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 It shouldnt be hard for ED to revisit the current KC-135 and add these "WARPS" right? I think we are all hoping on a new big refueler capable of delivering large amounts of fuel at higher altitudes. I mean the KC-135bda is still bugged (not even sure if its beeing looked at atm). But for now we just have the S-3B and the KC-130. Which can only deliver small amounts of fuel at lower altitudes... Ok it CAN deliver large amounts, but its able to fully refuel 2 jets before its empty, it will then continue to land and you will need to spawn a new tanker. It would be cool to see a completely new refueler like the "KC-46" or "A330/310MRTT". But looking into the need for a Drogue refueler at higher altitudes, it looks easier to just add the Wing Air Refueling Pods to the KC-135. It would make life so much easier :) RIG SPECS: -Win 10 professional -i5 8600k @5.0GHz -ASUS Maximus X Code -Samsung 960 Evo 256GB M2 SSD -Samsung 970 Pro 1TB M2 SSD -32GB DDR4 RAM @3000MHz -Asus Strix 1080 Ti 11G -LG 34UM68-P Monitor Notebook: -Win10 - 2018 ASUS ROG GL703gs-E5011T (i7-8570H, 16GB DDR4, 256GB M2 SSD,GTX1070 8GB.
Evoman Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 A KC-135 would be great except I had seen several people on these forms mention that DCS currently has a two engine limitation that can be simulated. So until that issue is corrected and increased to four engine support the KC-135 will be on hold. So that would limit things to the new KC-46 Pegasus which is a twin engine. I for one prefer the KC-10. They can just model the two engines on the wings and leave the 3rd in the tail alone until DCS is updated.

I think that limitation is only for player flown aircraft, AI aircraft are unaffected. Svsmokey Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Correct . DCS clearly has 4-engined AI aircraft . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
ams999 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 A one-for-all NATO tanker with several refueling spots would be great! Evoman Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I thought this thread was a request for a high fidelity flyable air tanker, which in of its self would attract a whole new player base that are normally interested in flying airliners.

JagHond Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 An improved version of the KC-135 would be fine, and introducing the KC-10 or a NATO tanker even better - but in any case adding a full working system of lights under the fuselage of any tanker should be the must for any model of tanker in DCS. Not only for realism's sake, but also as a valid help for us poor fliers when in refueling, never an easy task, and even worse at these conditions. Just my own one cent, of course. With best regards,
Worrazen Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 (edited) No idea why this thread got bumped but KC-135BDA uses the basket. I got confused with the dates, everyone knows that now since BDA came out recently I see now. Ehm ... I figured that out when I was trying to refuel A-10C with KC-135BDA for 2 hours and couldn't make it work. FACEPALM! Anyway FWIW: The 135BDA is bugged though, the hit box for the basket doesn’t line up correctly with the 3D model. There are some videos around that show this. Anyway FWIW: If you go back a page and fully read my statement, you will see i already mentioned the "bda" to be bugged... My reason for bumping this is because i feel there is a need for another fix. Because i am unsure if the kc135bda is still beeing worked on. If you go to RAZBAMS forum section you will also see that topic has been pretty quiet for a while. At least on their side... Worrazen Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 I missed it, I looked the whole thread twice to see any BDA mentions, I thought someone opened the thread after BDA came out. Dun_Aenghus Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 It has been bugged for months, really wish they'd fix it, surely it isn't too hard to get it sorted. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
