metzger Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 It's an open 24/7 public server, all walks of players have access which helps with popularity, enforcing stuff is not going to work unless the server gets passworded and admin'd 24/7. People can join SR then simply carry on using TS. With DCS current state and relatively low player base finding what you're looking for requires being part of a tight nit group or event, running that 24/7 won't happen or it will but be pretty quiet for long periods. It's a choice out of high player count sacrificing restrictions or hard core rules with low player count and specfic flight time periods. Agree, this is why I said squadron for real sim, and blue flag or whatever other public server for some arcade style shooting. It was similar discussion for navigation with f10 map. We want from the devs to build great modules with full systems and in the end navigating with f10 map and comunicating with ts. It doesn't make sense to me. Bushmanni Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 hmmm.. So similar to the typical problems and limitations of UHF and VHF sets of the 1990s? To me it seems much more realistic then the crystal clear comms of TS. Might as well also be on Skype with you wingman... Cheers mate :smartass: No, you lose comms with a plane in same formation because someone is talking in a different radio. Besides annoying it's unrealistic. QuiGon Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) How do you know sth. will release this friday? o_O There will be an update for the alpha today, which will add the Spitfire and the Viggen (among other stuff) to 2.0. Ciribob Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 No, you lose comms with a plane in same formation because someone is talking in a different radio. Besides annoying it's unrealistic. Please post on the GitHub any recordings you have of this. Any recordings would be very helpful in diagnosing and fixing. Obviously this is a bug and not programmed behaviour.... :) I've not been able to replicate and therefore unable to fix. Also currently homeless, have been for a while now, with no access to my main PC so obviously progress has been slow.... Blue Flag always tries to strike a good balance between realism and fun, and thats why I made SRS, to increase both the realism AND fun but there does seem to be a split in the community between those that enjoy messing with cockpit radios, and those that don't. There is nothing wrong with that! Horses for courses and all that... :) Ideally, once this bug is fixed then SRS would likely be made mandatory but again, i'm homeless, everything is subject to change, but it would be great to try for a round to see how it goes. I have also succeeded in bringing the overlay in to DCS (non interactive other than show hide but shows frequencies, tx & rx) so you can't really get more integrated then that :) Scripts: Complete Transport And Logistics Deployment - CTLD / CTLD Examples - Lots of example of how to use CTLD CSAR Script - Downed Pilot Rescue / Dedicated Server Script - Automatically launch DCS Multiplayer server at startup Range Scoring Script - Get scores and counts hits on targets for gunnery or bombs / SimpleSlotBlock - Multiplayer dynamic Slot Blocking Script Projects: DCS-SimpleRadio Standalone - DCS Radio Integration for All Aircraft - NO TeamSpeak Required! :) DCS-SimpleRadio Troubleshooting Post / DCS-SimpleRadio Free Support Channel on Discord
Pikey Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I'd suggest if you want enforcement of SRS, go to TAW's excellent Kaukasus offensive where they do that. The arguments go in circles here and as at least two people pointed out the community isn't the same person with the same enjoyment criteria. The only shame is that BF has the potential to be much more immersive but at the cost of exclusion to those that need a quick fix, and as they themselves have said, they want a very accessible public server. It might straddle the "accessible" line, it's about as complex as you get for a server but this is their wish and the alternative for poeple looking for more was a promised Squadron vs Squadron type design which takes private signups. I'll be honest, I never went back for more than a quick jump on after round 4. Many of us have great memories of the first few rounds before it became so popular and we just want that back. Stuff changes, BF is not as good as it once was, but not because of the way it is run, or organised, but because of how it's used by some. TS is for chatting, it's synonymous with gaming. SRS is for immersive communication. They are incomparable, it's apples to oranges, I've done the whisper key, multi channel, multi TS instance crap before and it's in no way better, it's a nightmare. As soon as you get to 20 people in one channel, some idiot has to have verbal diarrhoea all over the place or sniffs or coughs or needs to tewll you what he had for breakfast and reduce one channel into a massive denial of service attack that turns the majority off. I'll do anything to escape that. Including using the text window. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
*Rage* Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) I think that's a little harsh. Ive used SR in BF and I like the nifty interface and the realistic way it works. I have no problem using it if it is enforced in BF. But ive also been on when everyone joins the GCI channel and spams its with useless information. Last time I was on there was a Mirage startup tutorial being delivered on the GCI channel. Its definitely a more realistic comms interface than TS. But I dont think it solves the main gripe that people have with verbal spam and poor brevity. I think it may have just given that appearance to start with since early adopters were more likely to have better comms discipline. Once you get 20 people in a channel it doesnt matter if its TS or SR. They are all background interfaces that have no control over people spamming 'wheels up', 'missile away' 'the suns in my eye' 'goddam lag' etc. Just my observation. M460 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 SR is a wonderful development and I do thank Ciribob for the effort put into it. Being able to use the actual module radios is super cool and adds realism to this game across the board. It does have something that bothers me and that is that you cannot manage others volume levels. Some people will gate(Are too loud) and that is something that should be managed locally. Instead of asking the guy screaming to lower their MIC gain. That´s my 2 cents. BTW... REDFOR 2017 questions: Where´s my Datalink? Where´s my Chopper that can call bombers, carry crates, and troops at once? #I've been dreaming about an unlicensed version of the MIG-31... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

OperatorJack Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 So the Viggen shouldn´t be on blueflag either because its OOS. Also Tell that to Ukraine Mig 29 then :megalol: There's literally no plausable situation for the Viggen to be there I give you that. But DCS doesn't exactly have the aircraft selection to allow us plausable situations. I say leave the FC3 planes at the very least faction restricted. /да бойз/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
M460 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I disagree, its more than Plausible.. In reality Russians get shot by AK-47, Sa3's, Bombed by Su-25 and intercepted by Migs The US Has been engaged by their own hardware too... I did not mention f15 -a10 and su27 sharing because its not plausible so keep that in mind. My point is reality lies beyond alliances and paper work, and since this is a game, it should be one we can all enjoy. Not just one side because of a color grabbing onto all capabilities. #I've been dreaming about an unlicensed version of the MIG-31... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Volator Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 besides the G was for the NVA air force, and therefore is still REDFOR:police: Not entirely correct. The NVA flew the "MiG-29A" (9-12, not the downgraded 9-12a export model). After the reunification of Germany, these MiGs were upgraded to NATO standard, i.e. different flight instruments (altimeter in feet, speedometer in kts), TACAN and IFF/transponder, and thus became the "MiG-29G" (for Germany). Their engines were also downgraded for longer lifetime. 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven

Asset Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 While doing so could you please also fix the start locations of the Mi8? They don't spawn on the helo pads but half way off, so it's very easy to break the fron gear while taking off. This seems to be true for any blue Mi8 on any FARP. Haven't tried red side. Thanks, and BlueFlag is a ton of fun!
