IF there are going to be night time missions again, could I ask that server time be added to the webpage? I remember as GCI sometimes I didn't even realize that it was nighttime until somebody pointed it out.

Really awkward if you are the guy coordinating stuff! :D

You can always check top-right corner in the map: it tells you what time it's in game :)

Going to begin exploring your "Blue Flag" server.

I want to play in round 10. How do I apply to join up?

I fly RED copters---both. Any copter squads out there that needs another guy?

My SRS is up and running.

Hope your server is better thought out than the others that are up using your similar gaming theme.

Used to fly Ka-50 on the now defunct S-77th sever (Devilman) that was out of Tasmania. Most those guys are now F99th using the Nevada map.

IMO, it's a bit unrealistic that there is one frequency for all airfields in the Caucasus region...has anyone ever thought of making the rule so that you announce takeoffs and landings on the actual tower frequency, which is different for each airfield, found on the F10 map? I just find it'd be more realistic we tuned into XXX.XXX freq for one airfield and YYY.YYY freq for a different one

Often fields have two frequencies - likely scenario is two pilots landing one on VHF, other on UHF and they both collide.

For now it makes it easier and more likely you'll hear a another pilots call so not going to change.

Join server - open chat - type red.

Done.

You can't switch once you've picked without an admin

Don't forget to use the live map for info.

I fly the copters mostly.

I have never had a negative problem landing at airbase or FARP and not using a radio. Been with DCS since BS1 . And mostly fly Multiplayer.

I use my lights so other know where I am (including the enemy!).

I look around to get the big picture.

I stay away from the runway pattern and usually come in the back way and land near the tower for refueling and rearming.

FARPs I stay aware of my surroundings even in pitch-black night conditions.

Is it possible to add an awacs fur each side? it's great when someone plays as forward controller and very helpful but it doesn't happen very often.

Personally, I do enjoy the GCI role - for a very limited amount of time. Best solution would be if pilots after dying, crashing, RTB etc. would simply take over the role for 15-30 mins.

Fact is, once you get stuck in it, it's very hard to get somebody else to take over. And IMHO missions like blueflag don't really function without (human) GCI, except if you have a very teamplay oriented team, that is communicating on various channels.

Otherwise the overall coordination of assets, very often just doesn't work out.

Yeah I like the GCI role too, also an AWACS might be useful, because ATM, as far as I can see, enemy planes are spotted on the map only when a fighter detects him with the radar. That means if you don't have fighters, GCI is useless and can't provide SA reports.

But to deploy an AWACS, I think it needs to be scripted and moved around the map depending on the status of advancing of a coalition on the ground.

Does server run on a 24 hour clock including night ops?

Almost everybody in DCS strives for realism, yet always daytime, always fair weather...

Ran a search query this thread for "nightime" , without the quotation marks. In over 4,000 messages #4466 was the only result.

The sever does not currently.

When the invisible units bug is fixed we'll look at this but generally bad weather is unpopular, that includes night. To begin with we'll likely have random times, then introduce random weather.

Currently server restarts every 3 hours which resets the time. All deployed units (not troops) are saved as are the exact state of every base

The reset is to clear destroyed units from the map to stop lag.

Is it possible to have the av8b's on the farps armed? it's a bit of a pain and unrealistic to have to land at a proper airfield just to rearm.

What would your preferred loadout & fuel be?

It would have to be common across them all.

OT: Moltar is producing a skin pack and has asked for a shout out https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3418977 - If you have any custom skins or squadron skins that you want added - contact him on that thread. Would be great to have a consistent pack!

Personally i like rockets but even a few dumb bombs, aim 9 and a sidearm would be better that completly empty.

Game play question

Where must you drop the troops when a farp has been closed (neutral) ? And can it be mortar troops?

Do they the capture the farp and then you have to drop repair/refuel crate for it to start repairing? Somewhat confused. (PAK info says capturable)

Thanks

I usually drop them right on the helicopter pads, and yes mortar troops can capture. Once your troops cap and you see the server message then you can drop your repair crate.

Once the invisible units bug is fixed - it will go back to how it was before where mortars cannot capture :)
