Oceandar Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Su-27 was designed to use datalink. Its a crucial part of the system.Yup. The arguments about it posted many times in the past. As Ciribob pointed out that it adds lag, could you as network expert do something about it ? Or its on DCS side which is hard to believe because other servers I regulerly playing are just fine with DL, no lag. Or is it about scripts? Thanks Mastering others is strength. lemoen Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I think Blue Flag runs a lot of scripts that pushes the limits of what you can do with 2 threads. If DL is added, something else must go.

Ciribob Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 The server is running at 2.2GHz so there's a limit to what we can do. We have a lot of cores, but with 2.5 we need faster ones. We're exploring a few different options (including paid - hence the Patreon) and are very lucky that we have a server donated to us by Blix at all :) Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk Scripts: Complete Transport And Logistics Deployment - CTLD / CTLD Examples - Lots of example of how to use CTLD CSAR Script - Downed Pilot Rescue / Dedicated Server Script - Automatically launch DCS Multiplayer server at startup Range Scoring Script - Get scores and counts hits on targets for gunnery or bombs / SimpleSlotBlock - Multiplayer dynamic Slot Blocking Script Projects: DCS-SimpleRadio Standalone - DCS Radio Integration for All Aircraft - NO TeamSpeak Required! :) DCS-SimpleRadio Troubleshooting Post / DCS-SimpleRadio Free Support Channel on Discord

(ruins the immersion imo) I'd like to see the text chat disabled, too, though I'm sure it'd annoy a lot of people that rely on it. I'm aware we can individually switch it off, but I mean a server side disablement. ouPhrontis Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 You have to remember that SRS, Discord, Teamspeak, etc. are all external 3rd party programs that aren't part of DCS, thus many players don't use them. I understand this, though it benefits greatly from SRS, and presumably many join without having visited the homepage where it's encouraged, so disabled chat for those that do would be perhaps frustrating. Accepting of course that Ciribob already answered this, I'm fine with that. My reasoning was that it'd encourage use (or better use) of SRS, where I've seen some use the text chat for calling raygun, whilst better than nothing seems rather absurd; picturing a potential dogfight whilst someone types that out, and another frantically hammers out buddyspike in response. I appreciate that it exists at all, 'tis a jolly experience. kobeshow Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 my suggestion to the communications problem would be to make the registration meaningful, and put a process in place that ensures that everyone who joins the server has read the SOP and is willing to communicate. we are provided all the tools we need for a great expirience on the server, the problem is that pilots don't care to use them correctly/at all, and there are no rules or measures that enforce coordination. PeaceSells Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Also don't forget that you also need to communicate with your team before you enter your aircraft. SRS is supposed to be used when you are inside your aircraft already with power and radio turned on. I think SRS might work also in the Briefing and Choose Role screens, but I'm not sure and it probably wasn't designed for that... Yes, Discord can be used for that, but again... external app... madeiner Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Hey there, i was wondering about the blue/red side thing. How does the server know on which side to put me after the first time? It is an IP check, is a file stored on the PC or what? Also, i tried joining the server, i'm quite new and i was really lost. Is there a guide somewhere? Frequencies, tankers, missions? What should one do at FARPS? I'm mainly flying fighters, but would like to understand the ground game. For example, on red side, people were telling me to tune SRS to 126 mhz, while the -freq command showed 121 mhz for GCI-east. Which is correct?

I wondered that, but it recognizes me as the same user when i log in as steam, and when and i use the standalone, so it's probably something else
kobeshow Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I wondered that, but it recognizes me as the same user when i log in as steam, and when and i use the standalone, so it's probably something else DCS assigns unique IDs to every account, although you may start the game in steam you still need to be logged into EDs master server for online play. Not sure if your hardware also has something to do with it, or if that is just for starforce DRM. In regards to communications on red: the -freq seperation is done because it is hard for a single GCI to coordinate both east&west when everyone is coordinating and on the radio. Don't expect this to happen anytime soon, red is really struggling to coordinate and people are not willing to be pro-active about it. As a result you will be lucky if you find a GCI on the radio, or anyone for that matter (for me, most of the time over 66% of red airframes are not on coms), just use 126, it is essentially the standart frequency and I honestly can't remember the last time it got so crowded that we needed a second one. also for ATC: 124 is supposed to be our channel on red, but most people seem to use 251, IF they can be bothered to switch from 126 to announce to everyone and their mother that they are about to land in the most remote corner of the map. Get on Discord if you can, although the Red-HQ channel (only red players can read it) is pretty dead in regards to strategy, you will at least get the latest news and infos from the public channels. There will be a new reworked Standart Operatin Procedure (a document) released soon, and you will find all the info in there. Until then just ask if you have questions, generally people are friendly and willing to help. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "DCS World is the main public build, it has nothing to do with being stable" -Bignewy
