Perfect! It is really an amazing piece of software. Well worth it's money!

Like stated before. One must probably do some manual labour after every DCS update. But that's like a 2 minute chore, so once one remembers to do it, it becomes second nature, IMHO.

Hey!

For the future. No need to uninstall VA as it's not affiliated with VAICOM. VAICOM is a plugin for VA.

Run a repair of DCS. Use Skatezillas tool.

Go delete the export.lua in your \saved games\dcs folder\scripts

Reinstall VA and add VAICOM plugin as per the manual.

Make sure VA runs as admin, and enable plug-ins.

Restart VA, and hopefully DCS will run now.

Cheers!

EDIT: And of course check the paths as @hornblower793 suggests before you restart VA and start DCS.

I think I did all you described, without uninstalling and reinstalling VA AND VAICOM, but it still didn't solve my "After starting DCS, Chatter on speakers only, while all else on Rift OK" problem. Maybe in the next update Holywood mentioned lately?

One more question: if out of desperation, I still want to uninstall VA and VAICOM, should I save or backup any "speech training file" to get back to the same "level of service" after reinstall?

Good job @GunSlingerAUS

Just get into the habit, following every DCS update, of deleting the export.lua file and most, if not all, VP issues will be avoided.

I think you are in a pickle with your audio setup. I tried to reproduce, even though I don't have the Rift. Just by connection some old analog speakers messed up my Windows sound settings, practically made my USB headset disappear after reboot. Now I'm sure this is due to bad drivers, but I couldn't handle it and gave up.

But I did successfully get chatter/comms in headset, and other sounds in speakers.

The speech training files, are part of Windows and MSSR, and not touch by VA or VAICOM. So yes, they are safe. I'm testing something from a dude I met on VA Discord on how to successfully transfer all the MSSR settings and training to a new computer. But last version is buggy. Will come back with more news on this, if I find some progress.

Phew, got it to work without going through the song and dance of VAICOM installation - did this first:

Go delete the export.lua in your \saved games\dcs folder\scripts

Then ran a repair, it fixed 3 files, and now it's all good. I'll revisit VAICOM once the issues with 2.5.6 are ironed out, or installation gets much simpler. Shame, as it looks like an awesome piece of software, and I've bought all 3 packs for it.

So "ran a repair" is this a DCS repair ?

Same happened to me in the A-10C with the "Interphone" menu, and also with the F-18, where the Comm menu title that's popping up weirdly reads "VOID" (???). DCS did it before installing VAICOM, so I'm not sure if it is VAICOM phenomenon, but I dunno, if might be VoiceAttack?

Or delete export.lua, or do both!

Deleting export.lua and restarting voice attack and dcs will solve that problem.

Has anyone had any luck getting AIRIO to work since the latest DCS OB updates?

I can't get Jester to respond to the "Loud and Clear" ICS test. I get the message on screen that VA understood me, but Jester doesn't respond.

Just tell him "assisted startup" instead of "loud and clear" and he will continue the startup procedure

me neither. Glad to hear this should be addressed.

Honestly I am having severe Quality issues with VA and/or Viacom.

This worked until the OB patch last week and so is a change somewhere in the DCS code. Hollywood will address in the next release which is scheduled to come after the Super Carrier

Reseting Lua code did it for me. Thanks

Another way to sort it is to go into the VAICOM configuration and point the custom path to your DCS root install folder

What means "Resetting lua code"?
Delete export.lua and then restarting Voiceattack / Vaicom

Quick question: Does a Vaicom phrase exist for instructing wingmen to attack from the most direct route rather than the specific compass directions? Thanks!

I am planning to move my DCS to another drive location. May I ask whether there are manual steps to perform without having to reinstall/reconfigure both VA and Vaicom?

If you omit the direction, which is only optional, the AI pilot(s) will probably take the most direct route.

I say "probably", as DCS AI understanding/behaviour can apparently be unreliable at times. :)

Nope, for Steam users it's called "Verify Integrity of Game Files". You can find it under game properties, local files.

No. No need for any re-installation. Only re-configure VAICOM to use new custom path in the control panel.

LOL! Yeah, I've tried it that way and it is inconsistent at best. It doesn't seem to specify the SPI without a compass direction. So if another similar target type is closer to the wingmen they often blow you off and attack the closer target. That's not to say they always listen when issuing compass direction but it seems much more consistent. Thanks for the reply.

The issue appears to be more about the DCS AI, as you would get the same behaviour if you used the comms menus rather than Vaicom Pro.

It may be that ED will look at improving the AI or making the radio comms more specific to a particular target. For example, "engage AAA at Waypoint 2".

As it is, the current AI does add to the "fog of war". :)

Invisible Config Window

Just installed VAICOM. Worked great, except I'm getting a weird issue where sometimes the VAICOM config window will be invisible. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-C executes the config window command, and Voiceattack creates another window where the config panel should be but it's invisible.

I am able to fix by deleting the CONFIG folder in the VAICOM folder and restarting Voiceattack. After doing this the config window appears as normal.

Any ideas why this may be happening? Deleting the CONFIG folder is an ok work-around but having to reconfigure VIACOM is a bit of a pain.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Note - I am running a dual monitor setup (not sure if that has anything to do with it).
