If you don't have the Open Beta installed, use the updater with DCS_Updater.exe update @openbeta to convert your 1.5.8 Stable Release installation to the Open Beta branch and download 2.5.

Started with 5-6MB/s and now it's stuck under .5MB/s ....never felt that bad about my internet connection!!

Thanks Art-J, that was my issue. I had mistyped the path to 2.2 in regedit.

However, I just copied the files over from the OA 2.2 to the new OB 2.5, and it seemed happy!

thanks for your help mate...after checking with regedit that entries, the only one I have (appart of the modules and terrains) is the one of the open beta...so what now?, can I manually create a new entry pointing to the folder I have my 2.2 installed?

Just FYI: Data from NTTR and Normandy maps is not copied locally from the 2.2 installation for me (and others). The module manager wants to download it via internet even if the data is present locally.

For now, I cancelled the download of the additional maps to take a look at the new Caucasus...

My total download was only 20GB, so I figure it worked for me... Wonder what caused issues with it throughout the day for others.

I guess it can be done, but I'm not sure how. The reg entry for 2.2, apart from being called "DCS World 2 OpenAlpha" is the same as for 1.5.8 on your screen, only the version number is obviously different (though in my registry it says "2.0.0" for some reason). You can try to create it manually, it won't break your existing install anyway.

First Flights look good so far. AI behavior is different. My low level Sabre Las Vegas strip buzz mission is much more conservative. He wouldn't get below 500 feet screaming down the strip.

Happy to see that ED managed to keep relaxing release schedule so they could even release day early from the promised deadline....

 

Was a good surprise to notice this update...

 

 

Now comes the question, how I leave the torrenting to seed at background for others after update? I would like to keep next 24 hours computer on to help others in download.

Love the little details like good looking fences and walls around airports and airfields in the 2.5 Caucasus map - much better looking than NTTR in that aspect (same goes for RWY markings and overall textures); also - unlike the gravity defying NTTR bridges (which has been a pet peeve for me since NTTR came out) - road bridges in the new Caucasus actually have support columns. :)

what files did you override with the 2.2?? I tried doing that with the Normandy folder in mods/terrain/Normandy and despite it appears as "installed" in the module manager, it doesnt appear in the mission editor so dont seem to work...

But what exctly you copied?¿?...I did copy the Normandy folder (in mods/terrains) and then run the 2.5 exe, it appeared as "installed" but it didn't worked in the mission editor...
