Just wondered if there is any news on the stable release date for 2.5. Is the beta version still causing problems?

Bought a couple of things for 2.5 and still have my 1.5.8 stable

Hi

yes currently the team are working out some issues with the 2.5 beta.

Once they have been resolved we will be closer to having the build pushed to release.

But currently I have no ETA.

Thanks

It takes time, they clearly relased 2.5 OB totally untested. (IMHO)

Amount of broken things / mem leaks / is huge.

Maybe monday.

you are wrong, we had been testing it for some time. Some issues just don't show up until it is seen by a wider group of users and machines, which is why we have open beta.

More fixes to come, but I have no timeline yet, when we know more we will pass on the info.

thanks

sorry BIGNEWY, but the green fog, dark cockpits and wrong lights with DS on showed only after the OB was released?

Any news 2.5 final release date?

sorry BIGNEWY, but the green fog, dark cockpits and wrong lights with DS on showed only after the OB was released?

+1 this , there is so much easy (to see) and so obivious things (Sling load bug anyone ??)

AI flying trough forest !! (maybe not bug, just workaround because poor AI fly skills€

AND really poor Night time lightning, nobody tested Night missions .

Or memory consumpition (mem leaks anyone?)

Something is not right when stuff like this gets out.

Thats why i have hard time to belive that.

Maybe presure to relase something to players was finally too much because wags promised. So OB stamp on it..

We are still waiting for 2.5 relase , that was promised to take just couple weeks after beta relase.

But yes, i wait. Dont wanna get banned.

I feel you're pain, but to be fair to ED and personally speaking I haven't seen many of the issues you mention. I fly in VR and have now managed to get my setting so it flies smoothly (most of the time) and looks quite stunning.

I am very pleased with how things are progressing and the fun I get out of this sim far outweighs its frustrations, for me at least.

VR runs ok here too.

Mem leak real , so is strange fog when sun is low / rising.

And AI helos/planes fly trough trees , real thing too.

Faith is getting low , years and years waiting. Some old bugs still here with 2.5

I can appreciate the frustration, it is frustrating for us as well.

I don't think some of you appreciate how much there is to actually test, think about it, every combination of settings for each module and scenario that can happen in DCS, It is a lot of work, this is why the open beta is important, sometimes we as testers can not catch it all.

I can accept almost all that is in DCS 2.5 from the launch as beta, as that is what we wanted, what we expected and what we got! As Beta means it is in development and it will get changed in the future (do not ask about ETA, it is two weeks, don't ask the year).

But what I can not accept is the Oculus Touch Controllers incapability for a right click!

Meaning, your VR experience to actually use the cockpits is like 30-50% functional. Some cockpits supports all multi-position switches to be operated with just left click, so no problems as you just go around the order. But then in some left click goes to one direction, and right click goes to other direction. So lack of right click is annoying.

All rest from green fog to night visibility etc... Sure they should have come up in testing etc. But if there are larger problems, they need to be solved first. And IMHO visuals are backseat before it comes to functionality (like correct Input / Output functionality!).

I would have to agree about the lack of right click, its just, well, odd that they took the time to implement all the other features, assigned buttons to some "nice to have" rahter than "need to have" options and left off the right click.

I had hoped to see a quick fix for this but still we wait.

I'm getting round it by using the on screen cursor with right mouse function being mapped to my joystick.

That is the way now.

I would like to see axis and buttons mappable so example set physical buttons A/B as left and right mouse button.

Stick as it is now to control dials as scrolling (left right) or one step at time (up down). And trigger as view zoom. Grip as now as pointer activation.

I've never had so much fun in DCS than since 2.5 OB dropped. Sure there are some annoying bugs, but they're not actually game breaking are they? For sure they're a nuisance (in particular the DS night lighting) but the game is still perfectly playable.

IMHO, releasing the game in this state - even if they did know about these bugs (which they may well have done) - is perfectly reasonable. I don't think it's a question about pressure to push the game out at whatever cost. Releasing as an OB, with no serious game breaking bugs, allows us to enjoy what's been developed thus far and affords us the opportunity to provide feedback on other issues that may have thus far gone completely unseen. This is a benefit for all of us.

Well for me, I mainly fly single player and while the performance is initially good, the memory usage creeps up and things grind to a halt after 20 minutes or so. Hugely frustrating but I have faith that they’ll identify and fix the problems.

I really understand the need for the 2.5OB. I can still use my 1.5.8 so no worries. Just lookin forward to a release date whenever that is. I am thinking about downloading 2.5OB but don't want to mess up my rig. I can wait, and while doing that, I will start my collection of 2.5 stuff. Thanks

Probably a good move, Open betas don't suit everyone :)

And you get to enjoy it once it has been worked on some more

I feel like there has been a lack of communication from ED here. They have been saying release should be 1 week after beta, then the beta came, they acknowledge the problems but then silence for a whole month... This week ''weekend news'' was about reposting old hornet videos and telling us about the yak-52 but nothing about the status of 2.5 ? I understand that problems were found and that they postponed the full release but it would be nice to keep the community a bit informed .

Ed has been working pretty hard and so have the players finding all the bugs. There was one bug that took over a week to find the source. I spent 8 hours my self trying to find it. Anyways ed has been very communicative with the players for 2.5 and I do expect good things in the next few patches. Just be patient and let them work the bugs out.

and Wags the producer also made a statement about the delay

The team is working very hard to bring 2.5 OB to final release. We have been reading all the feedback and striving to address all valid issues. The biggest one we are focused on is memory management. Less than a week after the 2.5 OB release, we released a hot fix today.

We don't want to paint ourselves in a corner and provide a 2.5 stable release date as there are too many unknowns regarding fixing some of the identified issues.

Thanks

plus us as moderators have been trying to pass on info, not sure what else we could have done to communicate it more.

anyway, hope we wont have long to wait now.

This seems rediculous to me... "Release 2.5 now!" "OMG how can you release a BETA with bugs?!" You keep doing you ED. Things could lways be better but I'm loving 2.5 BETA none the less.
