I'm pretty sure the hornet doesn't carry the 97. just the 500 pounders

Oh of course. They are too heavy. But Is there any other cluster bomb wir draged bomblets which Is carryable by the Hornet?

Thanks. But I have a qestion. If the F18 isn‘t able to carry 1000 lbs bombs. How could it carry the Mk 84s?

I really hope we get some draged bomblets

Ya its not the hornet wouldn't be capable of carrying it. It just doesn't have the certification to carry it. Kinda like the super hornets fusalage stations are capable of carrying aim-7s like the Charlie hornets but it isn't certified to carry them so it doesn't.

No clue why they don't certify every weapon... Cost maybe

Ya but the cluster bomb version is the only one not on that list.

If I remember correctly the 154A is a normal bomb the 154B is the cluster bomb version and 154C is the hard penetrator.

Yeah because the 154b was never bought or adopted by anyone so far.

I hope that the Hornet gets CBU-97, MK-20 can be used to destroy trucks and nothing more. CBU-97 are even lighter than AGM-154 and I read in different places that Hornet was carrying CBU-97.

We won't get the CBU-97, IRL USN / USMC Hornet didn't carry it.

No nukes in DCS and mine warfare isn't simulated (yet).

And Mig-21 has it and how you explain it to me

?

It doesn't. They are normal iron bombs with a pretty big explosion (which is still a lot smaller than in reality).

The MiG-21 isn't made by a 3rd party dev (Leatherneck Simulations) who wanted nukes for their MiG-21, so they just used normal iron bombs, gave them a huge explosion and that's it. Eagle Dynamics has stated multiple times that they will not support nukes in DCS and their aircraft won't get any nukes, not even fake ones like the MiG-21.

I know it's just a substitute, but you can charge and drop it on target. The fact that ED does not simulate an atomic mushroom is completely understandable and I do not regret it.

It could be the angle your attacking at. If you drop mostly level the bomblets spred out over a large area. But if you drop in a decently steep dive, then the impact zone is much more concentrated. The more submunitions you put on the target the more damage done. For tanks I like to drop two MK-20s at the same time. If I do my part right, and bullseye the T-whatever, it rarely survives. Also attack from the rear if you can.

How many MK-20? I can't destroy a BTR with a central hit.

Just one if it is a good hit. Two if it was more of a glancing blow or too spread out due to attack angle/speed.
