mars
Quick update on my PointCTRL use. I made small orbs of translucent Sculpey and used white glue to carefully attach them to my FCUs. The tracking is more steady with these installed. They are admittedly not as nice looking as the 3D printed version but decidedly easier for one to implement if a 3D printer is not handy. I am happy with the results. Mars

Habu_69
Another idea. Goblin
I got my PointCtrl yesterday! Thanks, MilesD! I only had about an hour of play time, but I managed to try it out, briefly. I just plugged in the sensor and turned on the FCU’s and it worked well enough to fly a hop in DCS. You are absolutely on to something big here! This is so much better than using a mouse or trackball. I will spend some more time with it this weekend, and do a proper calibration. So far I really like what I see! Well done! Metro
Hello Miles, Let me start by saying the pointCTRL is pretty awesome. I would of PM’d you and I tried but your mailbox is full. I have a quick question about calibration and re-centering the clicking area while in game. The calibrations that we’re already done is higher than I would like. Another words, I have to raise my hands to a height that is unnatural for pointing at a particular switch. How would I go about moving the whole clickable area about 5-6 inches down. I would like to move the horizontal center point down. Does that make sense? Thanks Metro Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The factory calibration is for the Rift S. However it should be calibrated in the vertical for most HMDs. Is your HMS parallel to your line of sight or is it pointing up or down? Anyway, when you calibrate it will line everything up so the cursor is where you are pointing. Stop by the PointCTRL discord and we can walk through the calibration together on voice and a shared screen. Metro
Yes it is parallel. I am currently out of town from my house so it will be 4 days before I’m home. I don’t use discord so I’m not familiar with it. Everything seems to line up except the vertical. I tend to have to lift my head and raise my arms higher than naturally normal when clicking or manipulating and controls. The vertical axis for me needs to be lower. dwbarnett
Hello Miles, patiently awaiting my PC. I'm 184 or so on the list. However, I feel blessed because by the time you reach me, due to all the fantastic input my device will be awesome! Couple of follow up questions if I may. I saw your response re P3D and VR. i agree, it's not real good from an input in VR standpoint. Hopefully LM is working on this issue. Re my PC, will I still be able to overcome the limitations in P3D VR utilizing the calibration in PC Also, I noted some ingenious diffusion devices being made, to enhance the FCU connection. Any thoughts/plans on adding this to the later releases of the PC. If not, it's fine. There seems to be plenty of info to accomplish this on my own. Based on all the feedback, what a wonderful product....I know it will only get better. I remember you frequently mentioning this to me during our long Huey flights over Nevada and I had just found it recently in the forums. I have to say, this is incredibly impressive. It's cool to think back to some of the conversations we were having where you were describing some tech and production issues and to see where the project is now.. absolutely awesome bud. I'll be ordering one soon! Keep up the great work!

Kirin
Finally built the new system and got around to have a go with PointCTRL. Pretty awesome. Still have to fine tune the calibration. The crammed 190 cockpit was not the best place to start I guess... :D Can't wait to test further. Great work and many thanks to you Miles. crazysundog
Haven't got this thing fully calibrated yet, but I am loving it! Had bought a second button box last spring, won't be needing it now... Flipping switches and pushing buttons feels much more natural now. Would really like to get my hands on some IR diffusers. [i have no access to 3D printer] Does anybody have a line on some product I can order to use as a diffuser?? :pilotfly: :joystick:

MilesD
Miles, Sent PM, having a small issue with chargers, Thanks! Hey CrazySunDog, Crap, I keep forgetting to update the instructions. Your good, https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4019550&postcount=1673 From Above Post Important Notice for last weeks shipment: I am switching from a duel plug parallel charger to 2 independent chargers. If you received 2 black chargers, the flashing red lights work differently and will turn on and flash when the battery is not connected, that is normal. New Black FCU Chargers Charger Plugged in, not connected to FCU = red light ON Charger Plugged in, connected to FCU and charging = red light OFF Charger Plugged in, connected to FCU and FCU is fully charged = red light ON I test all components in each kit before shipment, so the batteries may be fully charged. Thanks and I am happy you are enjoying PontCTRL, I am posting on discord about the diffuses. As soon as I lock in a design I am going to mail a set to whoever would like them an no charge. I still have to figure out the best method for international mailing. crazysundog
Miles, Thanks for the quick response! I put my multimeter on both chargers, and can confirm they are working. MilesD
I am leaning toward FoxDelta's design (the round one), over the original (saggy version)version. The intent of the original version was to make the area as large as possible which helps interpolated cursor resolution. I still have to do some more testing, but I think FoxDelta's design will work out better. Deano and Clutter are pretty quick on the discord help desk, and I stay logged into the voice channel when I am at my work station/Pit. I keep it minimized, so just yell and I should hear you. I am new to discord and I am so glad Clutter and Deano set it up. FireCat will be moving his waiting list their also. DCS has been great, letting us do this here, but I don't want to wear out our welcome. How exactly does this interpolation work, i guessed a circular design would bring the best results. i tested some printer settings for my bubble, clearer with increased line height an more foggy ones with 0.1 line height. the clearer the worse was the result how are u planning to do yours? with SLS? my projects: https://www.sim-addons.com/ https://www.shapeways.com/shops/sim-addons-1 AV8B nozzle lever https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233670 F18C fingerlifts https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234747 F18C radar elevation https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=248080
