wow. miles. i like the right one, very futuristic.

How exactly does this interpolation work, i guessed a circular design would bring the best results.

Thanks FoxDelta for your work. I am no expert, and this is just my knuckle dragger method.

I thought I would throw up an unedited video to answer to see if it took less time than typing it out. It only took a few minutes.

I have a few different variables available for optimization of the interpolation, shutter speed, sensor gain, ambiguous pixel threshold, and the hardware IR LED area. I am sure there are some math guys out there who understand this stuff better than me and could explain it more clearly.

If you guys find these video responses helpful let me know, Its easier for me than typing.

Yes, I certainly like this style of tutoring as opposed to reading it. For a dimwit like me, it actually has a chance of getting through and making sense sooner with far fewer 'eureka' palm slaps to my forehead as it finally sinks in.

Excellent work as always Miles.

Hey Miles!

It's F99th -=MAVERICK=-! I remember you frequently mentioning this to me during our long Huey flights over Nevada and I had just found it recently in the forums. I have to say, this is incredibly impressive. It's cool to think back to some of the conversations we were having where you were describing some tech and production issues and to see where the project is now.. absolutely awesome bud.

I'll be ordering one soon! Keep up the great work!

Maverick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed your post, Whats up buddy! Its been way to long. I miss flying with you guys on the 99th soooo much, especially our Huey Ops. Are you still flying on the 99th? You should join the PointCTRL discord so we can catch up. One of the members there posted a pic of his stealth furniture simpit modeled after yours.

Thanks for reaching out, talk to you soon,

Shipping Update: The last of the previous groups orders just went out. Carol will probably issue the invoices tomorrow, but they won't ship until Monday or Tuesday, so no rush in making payment.

@Mr Mojo, Its still the plan, along with the radial buttons, pressure panels, smaller and sleeker FCU, Headset integration research, I just don't know when. The Aux Push Buttons banks are pretty low hanging fruit, so hopefully soon.

Thanks for asking, it puts things back on the radar for me.

Practical question

I have a practical question, I am in the next batch, number 135 and I am trying to figure out how far I have to reach out my hands to touch the buttons in the cockpit. How far away from your monitor do you sit? I fly in VR and wonder if have to move further back because when I get into a cockpit I always have to move back as I am to close to the DDI’s

Hi Pete,

PointCTRL is only 2d, so you can put your hand wherever it is comfortable. I calibrate and put my hand so it feels like I am touching the switches that I am interacting with.

I hope that helps.

Yay! Time to place my order!

One small question though. I saw this on the first post:

Spare Parts

Recommended - USB Charge Monitor and and data logger $10.00

What exactly does this do? I don't have much time for DCS (some 2 or 3 hours a week) so charging times won't be much of a problem. Is this charge monitor still recommended in my case?

What is the expected path of upgrading PC and its new designs and integration in the future? I have been gone from simming for a couple months for real world operations. Is the tactile feedback still in the works? I went from the Rift to the Reverb, and it is an incredible upgrade in visual acuity!

Maybe better put - what have I missed that I should be excited about?

Things seem to be going ok around here, that's good! Anyone looking at getting a, or a new, HMD should really look at the Reverb. It is fricking incredible! The clarity is amazingly crisp and clear. I wish the sweet spot was larger but compared to the Rift it is like putting glasses on and seeing clearly. Tracks well, is comfortable, and overall is a great experience.

Could anyone explain to me the function of the USB Charge Monitor and and data logger? I could be wrong, but I thought that the FCU's themselves indicate if they are fully charged.

I'd like to know wether I should additionally order the usb charge monitor or not

Hey Sirrah,

You are correct, the FCU has a battery check function. The charge monitor allows you to monitor how much current (in MAH) is being put back into the battery while charging. It displays both the charge current as well as cumulative Milli Amp Hours.

Knowing this information is helpful in determining when its time to replace a battery, as well as trouble shooting if your getting a short run time out of your FCUs.

These devices are handy for many other things besides just PointCTRL, they can be used with many USB devices for trouble shooting.

Its not required, just nice to have.

I Hope that helps,

Miles

Hi guys

I have some issues.

I tried the function to change timeout on FCU, I followed the instructions.

(forward button, turn it on see led flash rapid then flash slow, press rear most button when desired number of flash)

but it looked like it didn't acknoledge.

And now my FCU is just flashing its LED slowly, for more than 5minutes, and pressing any button doesnt help, impossible to power it off either, it's just stuck in an infinite loop

Posted

It won't power off if you hold the on and off button for more than 4 seconds?

In addition to what Clutter said, you have to hold the rear button down for up to 2 seconds for acknowledgment.

If it's stuck in a program loop for some unknown reason, or if the rear button is defective, you can turn off the FCU by plugging it into the charger. The charging jack automatically cuts power to the micro-controller.

Let us know how you make out,

Miles

W00t, just took delivery of my set! I am dog tired from work, but as soon as my wits are gathered again, I'll be pointing like a boss!

... soo... how does this calibration routine work? Whoa...

Also, there seems to be a bit of tape over the camera's sensor. Should I take this off or does it have an important function?

Sorry if I missed this. Does the HMS always remain in a powered on state, (obviously when the computer is on and it's USB is plugged in), even if you don't intend to use the your VR/HMD?

I have the HMS red glow and was wondering if there's a way to power off without unplugging? If it's designed to have that on state regardless of being in use or not, no issue.

Maybe I missed that piece in my reading.
