@re4ly i seem to be having an issue. All parts I got installed correctly but seems either im not getting power or my PC is not recognizing the controller. I installed the software in the pdf and even it does not recognize the controller. Do you have any idea what may be causing this?42d1ae02d5c56fc561957094a430c14f.jpg2c2ace4746d9e4d3d4b00a8ae06e1881.jpg30db243b261b71d6d6921bea78085ad8.jpg79e45dc0f07ce1dc2a2b45dc4c4f5d6f.jpg4e2e859ec00c4ab3e94315d91d9bfa34.jpg2bbdf85d17e355ecf7b34f728485422c.jpga1fbec1585d3023188ed390e146b421a.jpg8a5298dacac470b2dd3031647653a7a8.jpg6a890626219606ddfb1b38b568ffe985.jpg

Hey, Can you please send me an email? I think that way its gonna be easier. If you only connect the USB adapter via USB and not to the green throttle PCB one LED should light up on the blue Pro Micro.

I'm a bit unclear about the CH mainboard replacement. Is this for the CH Pro Throttle? For the Fighterstick? For either one or both?

Also, I'm wondering whether you have any replacements for the CH throttle ministick.

BTW, I finally received my CH sensor only six weeks after you shipped it! It's working great.

The original CH mainboard has a 8 Bit (256 points or 0.234°/point) resolution and the new mainboard has a 12 Bit resolution (4096 points or 0.0146°/point). So theoretically thats about a 16x increase in resolution. Realistically its abit less on both as these ADCs dont operate rail to rail.

I'm Softball on Multiplayer. NZXT Player Three Prime, i9-13900K@3.00GHz, 64GB DDR5, Win 11 Home, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, TrackIR 5, VKB Gunfighter III with MCG Ultimate grip, VKB STECS Standard Throttle, CH Pro pedals

Yes, shipping times are horrendous at the moment to basically everywhere, but especially to North America! However, I am glad that it has finally arrived and you are happy with it. :)

The CH upgrade mainboard is suitable for all USB CH devices (Fighterstick, Combatstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals, Throttle Quadrant). The only difference is a change in firmware layout but that can be switched easily at will. Hardware wise all CH upgarde mainboards are the same and fit all CH devices. It can also be used to convert all Gameport CH devices to USB, but that needs soldering skills and an extra shift register.

Hey Eduardo,

Sorry to say, but your country is sadly still off limits for me. :( Postal service indicates it may be possible to ship again in December. But who knows..

Thanks for the heads up Marvin, I will wait for the restoration of the Postal service.

The items I want to order is a replacement Throttle Pot (plus converter for use on older Cougars) and a Microstick replacement. Also would like to purchase an antenna and range pots replacements once you have them available. I will ask you about this next month.

Best regards

SEPA = Single Euro Payments Area

That is the standard european bank transaction system (via IBAN).

That is great news!!! Will keep an eye on this as I need one. What kind of install? Plug and play or more?

The Ministick itself is plug and play. Same connector, same footprint, same calibration procedure. But you do need to loosen some screws to get into the throttle grip first. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi - I just discovered this thread after designing a new gimbal mechanism for the Cougar and I'm kinda kicking myself because the last thing I did was think "ahh, nobody will ever use the original pots" and deleted the code for fitting them. I never thought about new sensors shaped like the old pots. Out of curiosity I see that you went to a great deal of trouble to make the new sensors return the same analog range of values as the original pots. I see that other people designing sensors have done that as well but I don't quite understand why. Running the calibration routine in Windows' USB game controller app is working fine for me for adapting to sensors with a different range. Is there another advantage beyond convenience (and the undeniable satisfaction of accomplishment) to matching the original range?

If the sensor "effective electric angle" - in what the voltage varies from 0 to 5V, matches the joystick gimbal angle movement you achieve the full resolution for ADC of USB controller, e.g. 10, 12, 14 bits, or very close.

If the sensor used don't varies the voltage from 0 to 5v with the gimbal movement, but less, doing the (obsolete) Windows Game Controllers calibration you have response across al movement, but ending having less than the theoretically possible resolution.

Hey guys,

My last two weeks were a bit rough and the mods were all sold out. So I wasnt very responsive via email, but I will reply to all emails now. Most packages with new parts have arrived and the last is expected tomorrow. So, mid week all mods should be back in stock.

There is also some great info about new stuff that I will post as soon as I have worked through the emails. Thank you for the patience folks! Have a great 2. advent Sunday. 🙂

Phew, just finished a new batch of Cougar stick sensors, Cougar Throttle hall sensors, CH sensors, GMR sensors and Cougar Ministicks. While I am certainly no expert on dying 3D printed parts, I think the result turned out pretty decent. The Cougar Slew will now be added as a regular item to the list of Cougar mods. The ANT and RNG pots are not ready, because the Shapeways prints turned out awful as somebody there decided to print them in the wrong orientation. The Cougar Throttle USB adapters and CH upgrade mainboards are out at the moment as I am still waiting for a new shipment of MCUs.

The new info will have to wait a few more days. 😅

Yeah, recently I have found the last missing piece to the puzzle. I have been looking for one of the connectors for ages and finally was able to source it. The Force Sensor will most likely be released mid-end Q1 2021. There is some commercial interest as well. 🙂

Today I finished installation and calibration and the mods work great. I guess first time Im doing in 2021 is swapping sticks and get back to some F-16 flight time.
