S77th-GOYA Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Gentlemen, Please move the Red Flag thread back to to main forum. It's the biggest boost in interest LOMAC has seen in a long, long time. It deserves to be a prominent thread in the prominent forum without having to look for it. This applies to any future threads as well regarding this exercise which effects the entire community. Thank you for your consideration S77th-GOYA 1

Alfa Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Gentlemen, Please move the Red Flag thread back to to main forum. The thread in question belongs in the "mission and campaigns" section, so thats where it will stay. I have promised Fudd to make a series of sticky threads dedicated to the event within this section, which can help to keep his efforts organised. It's the biggest boost in interest LOMAC has seen in a long, long time. It deserves to be a prominent thread in the prominent forum without having to look for it. This applies to any future threads as well regarding this exercise which effects the entire community. Thank you for your consideration S77th-GOYA The very idea that the subsections are less "prominent" is faulty Goya - not to mention the notion that it should be harder to find a particular thread in a sub-section dedicated to the subject at hand. 1 JJ
nscode Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 If only we had a separate English forum, and could use the New Posts option.... aaaahhhhh.... :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Ice Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Possible soultion.. Make the general Forum a sub-section.
Pilotasso Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Too many sub sections and too little people in them. Ill try to attend next even if Im online at the time. Cheers .
3Sqn_Sven Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I'd also like to see it in the general forum. I've never even been in the missions and campaigns forum. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region

Camoman Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 The very idea that the subsections are less "prominent" is faulty Obviously it must be more prominent when the main forum is where the LockOn EN link leads too. If you wish to look into other sections then you need to navigate further, thus making them less prominent for the user. My two cents on how I felt when I first used these forums. It took me a while to realise there was worthy content in the other areas. In no way am I contesting the location of the thread, just the fact that to the relatively new user the sub forums are definitely less prominent. =IronAngels= Http://www.ironangelslockonsquad.com Iron Angels Lockon Squad Iron Angels: The Proud, The Few, The Elite
Woodstock Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I vote for a new subforum inside LockOn-EN, maybe called "Events" or "Community". The "Missions and Campaigns" is for sharing your editor work with others. "For aviators like us, the sky is not the limit - it's our home!"
VMFA117_Poko Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 IMHO it should stay as a sticky in Missions and Campaigns section. If this is so important for many ppl here then nevermind where it lays it will be popular and browsed.

If this is so important for many ppl here then nevermind where it lays it will be popular and browsed. redflag is not a mission nor is it a campaign - it is an event organized by members of the community (mainly 159thFudd) what about new people not familiar with lockon yet ? being hidden somewhere it is made difficult for them to stumble accross it if they visit the website. It should be in the interest of ED to put this in the front section of the forum. for some new people seeing what the community does could be a decisive factor whether to buy or not to buy lockon fc. the event and how it is run is very good advertising for ED's lockon and it should not be hidden. my 2cents, :pilotfly: S77th-NotiA10 1 :pilotfly: NotiA10 CoolerMaster HAF RC-932 - Intel Core i7 950 - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R - Kingston DDR3 6GB - Gigabyte Radeon HD 5870 EF 6 Edition - Western Digital 640GB SATA-III - CoolerMaster 700W - TrackIR Pro 4 - Saitek X52 - Saitek Rudder Pedals - Hotas Warthog
Paralyzer Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 If this is so important for many ppl here then nevermind where it lays it will be popular and browsed. I agree that it can easily be located by the frequent readers of this forum. However, the casual visitors might not even notice it. I think what GOYA is trying to point out here is that a big event like this only shows good signs about LOMAC and should be noticed by all (and right away!). When a newcomer visits the forum and sees this event. It shows how active and fun Lock On can be judging from the 'IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!' testimonials  . Who knows it might get them excited and motivated to fly more Lock ON or upgrade to Flaming Cliffs. When you look at the daily paper at the newstands. You will notice that news headlines and major events are always in the front page (even with huge and bold letters) to get people's attention. Like what NotiA10 said 'It's good advertisement'. 1
VMFA117_Poko Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I don't know if totaly new guys should be involved in Red Flag. This is mainly for squadron members. How can You learn tactics if You can't fly in formation. They should learn first BFM after joining a squad. ... But OK! It's your call. I just don't like a mess on the forum... Maybe You right - it could be a stand-alone section smth like "Red Flag". It will grow inside "Mission 1", "Mission 2", etc.
159th_Viper Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 We shouldn't keep new guys out because they aren't in a squad. If the new guy is willing to fly a bit with one of the squads and learn some basic tactics they shouldn't be shut out. I propose that whoever isn't attached already contact one of the squads participating (or Fudd) and see if he can't get a slot. Agreed 100%. By actively encouraging and ensuring participation of Non-Squad members we will in all probability see a growth in the number of individuals who have until now for whatever reason been hesitant to fly online/join a squadron. Cm'on fellas - I spent the better part of three hours in the air with my trusty T-Frog without once engaging and it was Hands-Down one of the best LockOn experiences to date - can only imagine how good it's gonna be down the line when that one Golden Opportunity presents itself and the Frogs descend like Hounds from Hell....... Alfa Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Sorry guys but the question of sorting topics on the forum is not up for voting. The English speaking part of the forum only has a single section for all Lock-on related subjects. Therefore it is necessary to use subsections within this to distribute topics with lots of traffic in order to keep things organised and free up space on the General Discussion area - which is for: a). Lock-on related topics, questions and suggestions that don't fit into any of the dedicated sub-sections. b). RL aviation(ground- and naval warfare) discussions that have relevance to Lock-on. ....as well as being the place to look for official information/announcements. In other words the sub-sections are there for a reason and I am not going to move topics that belong in one of these to the General Discussion area just because some people can't be bothered to read beyond this - on the contrary it would be counter productive to our efforts(getting people to use the sub-sections). However, we cannot create new subsections for every possible topic - this would take away too much space from the General Discussion area, so each sub-sections will have to embrace groups of related subjects. I vote for a new subforum inside LockOn-EN, maybe called "Events" or "Community". The "Missions and Campaigns" is for sharing your editor work with others. Says who?. The "missions and campaigns" section is for everything related to mission building and execution.....off-line or online. Like I said - there is a limit to how many sub-sections we can put up and therefore each of them must embrace everything related to the title subject(s). Perhaps this needs to be further clarified under the posting guidelines in the Forum rules. JJ
