Cunctator Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Maybe cooperating directly with the author Dietmar Hermann could also be an option? He is still active and publishing about the Fw 190 since decades. Mr. Hermann must have amassed a vast collection of documents and knowledge about the plane and it's pilots by now.
Lixma 06 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Will the D-9 get the flood-lights upgrade? (or am I missing some controls?)

ED Team Coyote Posted January 21, 2019 ED Team Posted January 21, 2019 BMW 801 D-2 Я принимаю модели, а вы мучаетесь, но у вас растет мастерство!!!:book: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Cunctator Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 It never ceases to amaze me how deeply encapsulated the entire BMW 801 engine block is compared to most other radials and how an oil cooler at that position is sufficiently functional.
xvii-Dietrich Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 BMW 801 D-2 Wow. Nice. Does this mean that we might see these "innards" if there is damage and the cowl is blasted off? Or if there is one with the cowlings removed on the taxi-way (that'd be neat!)?
ED Team Coyote Posted January 22, 2019 ED Team Posted January 22, 2019 Wow. Nice. Does this mean that we might see these "innards" if there is damage and the cowl is blasted off? Or if there is one with the cowlings removed on the taxi-way (that'd be neat!)? guys, the engine had to be done for two reasons. 1-the cooling gills open from the side and the engine can be seen through the cracks. 2 is a damage model, screenshots are made in the viewer and hoods are removed by damage arguments. ED Team Yo-Yo Posted March 11, 2019 ED Team Posted March 11, 2019 (edited) Concerning FM and physics generally, last minute report: The most interesting challenge was writing fan-driven cooling model. It was possible to use some real world tests data to verify the system. By the way, the fan absorbs significant power from the shaft... The engine model was made using very detailed supercharger graphs obtained in tests. Komandogerat is WIP full steam. BMW 801 did have only on the Paper same (Shaft) Horse Power as Jumo, also the troublesome Engine Exhaust Design soaked up to 40-80 PS, give the BMW the rough Engine Sound that was pretty much disliked by the Pilots, often noted in the RAF Testing. Did impact the Service Life of the Spark Plugs. 1943 partially fixed do to Prodution Issue, first completly resolved with the A9 and TS Engine. Never saw it in any professional reviews. Even Soviet war-time review mentioned reactive stacks of common design giving noticable power increment at high speed. By the way, fan cooling gave advantages in overall cooling power loss comparing to common approach.
