What's the white stripe in the front panel? MiG-15 has similar stripe, haven't quite figured out why.

It’s there as a visual reference point for the stick being in the center or not. If the stick and the line are aligned from the pilots’ perspective, the stick is centered

Just noticed that the MiG-19's front panel is actually black and not the typical turquoise colour we see in almost every russian plane or helicopter.

The "Psychological turquoise" was invented a little later. Early MiG-21 like F-13 and PF had black pits.

Damn, our school workshop and all the machining there were turquoise. And a good half of labs in the university...

That's a sweet looking MiG. What's with the thick tail plane? The leading edge looks almost round to me, is that how it was on the real machine? Or is that something still being worked on?

 

Also how much different is the -19P from the ShenYang J-6?
