Capn kamikaze
I've noticed a few threads get deleted recently, nothing wrong with them, not moved, just gone, this devalues the forums when this happens, as doing that makes you have to question whether it's worth bothering to respond at all if some mod/admin is just going to delete what you took the time to write.... Capn kamikaze
There was a thread about the Maverick and the F/A-18 that has since disappeared. If a thread doesn't break any rules then why delete it?

Oceandar
There was a thread about the Maverick and the F/A-18 that has since disappeared. If a thread doesn't break any rules then why delete it?Probably there was any mention about another sim on that thread. My post got deleted because I have mentioned another sim, I just typed the name of it and not even discussing it. Its really discoureging, I wouldnt even bother to make a thread reporting a bug, replying someone else thread (and this thread an exception thou lol) . Just let someone else posting it. msalama
How is this a problem exactly? Just talk about the competition in general. There's no need to mention exact names, and if you don't, no rules are broken. Pretty simple, isn't it? The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of. ED Team NineLine Posted November 26, 2018 ED Team Share Posted November 26, 2018 That's unfortunate. I wanted to post the other day about how "another WWII sim" portrays something more realistically, but I was afraid to say anything because of this. Truly constructive criticism, but I'm afraid to give it. I have spent over 1000$ on DCS aircraft modules and maps and I don't want to risk losing my access to technical support, so I just keep my mouth shut about it. You can describe without referencing another sim, DCS World aims to simulate the real world, so you can just describe how you feel DCS is not portraying something accurate to the real world. We are not trying to simulate another sim, so it makes sense to make all comparisons to the real world. "you can talk to each other as long as you say what we want you to say". It is the unfriendliest most judgmental place I have ever run across in actual fact with some of the best and some of the worst people I have ever met. Ask a question and you get treated like an idiot and you get 1/10th of an answer that means nothing. Make a request for change and the users/customers jump up to help but the company simply puts you on forever ignore. One switch that may never come stops it cold. *sigh* 5 minutes work. *sigh* I just uninstalled my "other" sim. I had to make a choice and choose the one I preferred. It was close... Long Live DCS World *sigh* Win 10 pro 64 bit. Intel i7 4790 4 Ghz running at 4.6. Asus z97 pro wifi main board, 32 gig 2400 ddr3 gold ram, 50 inch 4K UHD and HDR TV for monitor. H80 cpu cooler. 8 other cooling fans in full tower server case. Soundblaster ZX sound card. EVGA 1080 TI FTW3. TM Hotas Wartog. TM T.16000M MFG Crosswinds Pedals. Trackir 5. ED Team NineLine Posted November 28, 2018 ED Team Share Posted November 28, 2018 Makes you wonder of the lack of confidence in the product Honestly it has nothing to do with being worried about comparisons, its more on how the community approaches some of these discussions, and many times turn into fights because one person likes something another sim does, and another does, or people take the opportunity to trash other developers, and we just don't want any of that on these forums, and we don't want any discussion that will drift that way. DCS aims to simulate real like, that is the only comparison you need. SonofEil
It is the unfriendliest most judgmental place I have ever run across in actual fact with some of the best and some of the worst people I have ever met I see you’re new to the internet. Welcome! (I kid of course!):) Honestly it has nothing to do with being worried about comparisons, its more on how the community approaches some of these discussions, and many times turn into fights because one person likes something another sim does, and another does, or people take the opportunity to trash other developers, and we just don't want any of that on these forums, and we don't want any discussion that will drift that way. I actually agree with this policy in a general sense for the reasons you mention. Comparisons between sims don’t really help. If I were a developer I’d see “X sim does Y thing better” and think, “Yeah ok, it’s not like we’re not trying here.” I’m sure the producers and devs are well aware of what the competition is doing. I do think the actual rule is a little too strict. Mention of past products in a reminiscent sense should be fine, or even suggesting a different product in a segment DCS has no interest in (civilian). Against the letter of the rule, yeah, but generally I think the moderators do a good job of taking things in context and letting innocuous mentions slide. ED Team NineLine Posted November 28, 2018 ED Team Share Posted November 28, 2018 We have taken a stance to put out the flame before it gets out of control, a sort of saving you from yourself. I personally hate going to other forums, even other developers forums and see ED trashed, or other developers, it's just childish, so even the mention of another product can lead down that path, with what ED's goals are, its really not needed to compare other products. Guille H. Mono
So, are You removing mod threads? I've been following some of them quite close last weeks. They are disapearing at an unprecedented rate. I know there are rules regarding ownership that must be respected, but I would like to have that info. Yesterday night I downloaded from https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/ a radardome building wich can act as RED/BLUE side EWR (have been waiting for something like that FOR YEARS). Works fine, but now I can't find a thread and the reason why the download have been also removed. Same goes for the infantery liveries, ships, etc. They are installed in my DCS because they were offered in the DCS page and now I'm left without knowing if they are legit or even dangerous. We have had claims of issues with some of the mods, such as having assets not owned by the mod maker and therefore no permission to post here. If they PM and tell me they are all original material, or legally allowed to use, they can be restored. Nothing should be dangerous though, its only a matter if the mod maker has the rights to share the files. We don't have the manpower to research each and every mod, so we err on the side of safety.
