Unfortunately, there is probably little money to be made making variants of an aircraft that has already been released in its latest, most capable version. But if I had my way, all the major MiG-21 variants would be the focus for Russian Cold War aircraft: F, PF/FL, PFM, S/ M, SM/MF, etc.

If only one other variant was produced, it would have to be the first major production aircraft. The MiG-21F-13 was very different than the MiG-21bis in performance and systems and was an absolute workhorse for Soviet supplied countries for the entire Cold War period. At a minimum, the F-13 variant should be modeled to support historical encounters in Vietnam, India-Pakistan, and Arab-Israeli conflicts despite the existence of the bis.

Seems like you have never hard of the MiG-21-93 or the MiG-21 LanceR ;)

Anyways, I think your request would be better placed in the MiG-21 subforum, where such a thread already exists: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=167641

Thanks for the photos, they’re cool.

A thought. Our current 21 was built to a specific specification, so it’s not unreasonable for the developer to state that they’ve delivered to spec.

The versions listed above are clearly a change to the scope of the 21.

If the developers were to ask, would you be willing to pay for the option of updated avionics, just as we did with say the NS430 for the Mi8?

Have to say, that I would, as I really like flying the 21.

I find the bis-variant that we have now to be the most interesting of all the MiG-21 variants, so I'm happy and don't need another one. I prefer they would invest their resources in entirely new aircraft (like the Corsair). I also recommend yout to read the thread I have linked above, as exactly those questions have been debated there over and over again :)

MiG-21F-13

J-7, preferably J-7G, or least one of the other double deltas.

Bison

Lancer

Would love these. Don't see them happening anytime soon, but would love them regardless.

I'd also love to have at least one from every generation of the Fishbed, but it is unlikely, and probably not feasible from a sales point of view either. But the above 4 would all be very interesting to have for me.

F-13 would be great for sure. 21Bis we have is from at least 1972 so F-13 from 1960 could cover big period including Vietnam war and many Middle East conflicts.

Variants I'd go for are probably the MiG-21F-13 as suggested above. Not sure on other variants but maybe MiG-21-93 and MiG-21 Bison are probably what I'd go for, for me I'm more interested in the -21-93 than the Bison though I'd take either.

It would be interesting if it has HUGE difference than the current one we have. The F-7 series is a good pick...any of those latest variants. Looks and feels different too.

Yeah, but we don't really any blue aircraft in that era at the moment.

honestly I think if we need any "new" older aircraft it should be bluefor.

We have,

Mig-15, 19, 21, and the 23 on the way, that covers the 50s-late 70's for red. If anything I'd like to see a SU-17/22 or other red strike aircraft or a full-fi SU-25.

For blue we have

F-86... F5E (sorta).... F14A (coming)...

Now if the F4E (80's version) came anytime soon (rather than mystery jet), and The F8J (70s) and Mirage F1 (70s?) came along (still not sure which version(s)) then we have a better cold war planeset. But really till that day comes I don't think we need more mig-21 variants.
