We're getting very close to releasing it - target is this week but may at latest slip some days into next depending.

Copy editing pass is underway and we are adding some last diagrams.

And two new videos this week?! OMG, I'm sure we are very close!

Agreed, the negativity has to stop. Heatblur needs all of our support and encouragement. For us Tomcat lovers, they are doing something incredible and unprecedented in flight simulation.

It looks like we will be getting the manual in the next week or so which gives us a lot to look forward to and enjoy until release.

Yeah looking forward to diving into the manual head first. I freely admit Im not big on manuals truthfully, usually reading parts when I need to figure specific things out.

This will be the first time in a looong time where I will probably read the entire thing from start to finish :)

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Me either.

Military manuals like NATOPS aren't exactly known for being an edge-of-your-seat experience.

The information is interesting. The presentation is not.

Yep, a wonderful sleep aid.

If you want to pass your NATOPS check and become a fighter pilot, then you must learn to love it. I still sleep with mine. ;)

When the Heatblur manual is published, I’ll be studying the RIO’s cockpit and AWG9 to see what’s implemented too.

Manuals are great for aiding sleep and for when taking a dump.

PSA: Do not read for too long while sitting on the toilet. It is bad for your rectum and can lead to hemorrhoids. That is all.

Who said the manual will be complete when its released ;)

It will never be complete twilightsmile.png

Complete enough to let it loose at the community though rainbowdashwink.png

My usual approach as well - I read it when I need it. i've started reading the F-14B NATOPS ahead, didn't do that in case of the Hornet or the Harrier dealwithit.png

Agreed, very dry reading.

Actually it's completely soaked compared to the stuff you have to read in school or stuff about programming, software engineering or IT administration. Those are even dry compared to the NTTR. At least some authors are aware of that and wrote better stuff (Head First series) rdlaugh.png

One question:

When people say "NATOPS", can I infer that they are also refering to "NAVAIR" ?

Yes, they are referring to "Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization" or the Flight manual.

NAVAIR stands for Naval Air Systems Command who make it and publish I believe.

Thank you for the insight.

Because I do know that for a given aircraft (i.e. F-14) there are LOTS of NAVAIR manuals; with their respective matters; chapters; sub-chpaters; etc... which some of them do have many irrelevant (and not so useful) stuff.

So I'm curious to see which contents will be in the Heat Blur's manual.

That's why I'm desperately waiting for the Heatblur manual, because the DCS manuals are much more fun to read than the real life flight manuals!

On February 4 you posted you hope to have the manual for the Tomcat out this week but my slip some into next into next week. Was wondering where will we able to find manual at when it ready. Also do you know if it will be ready this week or will it be the early part of next week. Thanks for all of heatblur great work on the Tomcat and can’t wait to fly it

The manual will most likely come in form of a website. IIRC it was said in the announcement stream. Hopefully some printer export is easily possible.

Can’t believe you guys are telling people to read the manual. Why, you actually seem to be looking forward to it!

Well we had some guy drilling it into us for the past 6 months.
