Well a couple people want 1:1, but we will look at what we can do that is reasonable ;)

Under the old system we received 20% of the purchase cost as bonus cash. Under the new we can expect to receive 10%. With that understanding, I would be satisfied to see a 2:1 exchange rate ($2 of bonus cash in exchange for $1 in ED Miles).

Furthermore, thank you for the new system; it's how things should have been done all along.

I have spent some $1000 on ED online products (that's it, does not include boxed editions of LOMAC, FC, A10C or BS which I bought probably three times over during the confusion years). I won't even think of gear or rigs needed to play the game somehow decent. I am on this journey with them from at least 2005 (and I am not including Flanker days here). If this is not loyalty, I am not sure what it is. I don't have bonus point, well maybe few but I never benefited from them and did not care about them too much. Even the announcement for changing the bonus system didn't actually make me twitch or make me very excited. Until I read the word "loyalty". And that, my ED friends, supposed to mean something. Not sure it has the same meaning today. Look, I thank you for all your work, it gave me countless hours of joy. But it is not like this was an one sided affair, I did my share as well. Your news were disappointing, for me at least. Hope others will have better luck. I will still remain the same loyal customer, you can rest assured. I am just writing this for others to see it and make sure they hold buying products until the new system gets in place. Have a great weekend.

Its ok found them I have 5 bonuses = to $56 in total can i use all of them

For my F14 pre purchase nothing shows up for the bonuses plz help

You most likely cannot use them. They only work for products that aren’t on sale, in pre-release, or aren’t considered “new”. Even the. You can only use bonus points up to 20 or 30% off the price. This is why we needed a new system and why so many people have bonus dollars they couldn’t use.

Bonus points expired only if you haven't bought anything. If you bought something that added to the bonus, even 1$, that moved the expiration date forward by one year. So it was perfectly possible to accumulate a lot of bonus $ over several years that did not expire.

Point is, those who balanced their spending between preorders, post-release purchases and promotions, probably have a more or less neutral balance. But paradoxically, the most loyal customers who bought everything during preorders had a hard time to use the accumulated bonus in the old system, and now will suffer the most from transition to the new system.

Hello FSKRipper,

First of all, I want you to know that I also have all the modules that are present in DCS.[/font]

Then specifically, I would like to inform you that it has not always been possible to use the accumulated bonuses. I have always bought the modules on the first day and this is the main problem, because in order to use the bonuses I would have to wait a long time and I wanted to have the module on the first day.

I can assure you guys I also pre ordered the products or bought them the first day. As you can see in my history, it is perfectly possible to get a balanced account with it.

EDIT: I have to admit I don't own one module, the Christen Eagle for a personal reason which is not a matter of this discussion.

Keyword is: "bought them the first day". The rules said you won't be able to spend bonus on new modules, but in reality it was never the case and you could pay with the bonus on day 1. Another thing that ED never sorted out with the old system.

as per my understanding, F-14 is not part of ED current bonus system. So no bonus you will receive and you can't use bonus to buy it after release

I'd be more than happy to see a 2:1 exchange. I may only have $35 or so, but as with others I tend to have bought things in sales or on Pre-release and don't really get to use the Bonus Points as I have all the modules I want. The only one I don't have is the C-101 and the GPS add-on for the L-39 and Mi-8.

I think it would be a generous offer, rather than just killing off the bonus points. :)

After a brief reflection I decided to give away my bonuses to E.D. as recognition for their work done up until now and in the future. I take the commitment to post a screen with zero bonuses. I also invite other friends of the forum in this initiative. Thank you very much E.D.

Excuse me brother, I respect your personal opinion and I admire your willingness to make this gift to ED. But this does not respect my point of view on the problem at all. I believe I have already fully and broadly supported this company over the years, buying all their modules regardless of whether I was really interested or not and this from the first days of sale. I do not expect and I do not absolutely claim a conversion of my bonuses accumulated in 1:1, but I do not even want them to be simply canceled. No way!

As if we had a choice?! :)

Current bonus works out at a a maximum of 20% per a full price module.

Let's say 50 dollars for a module, I could get $10 max.

At the current rate, with my $40 bonus, ED would have to release 4 full price modules not in Early access before Summer.

That's four modules in four months to be released and get out of EA.

This is a bit oversimplified since there's three I could get, but it roughly explains the issue with the old system.

What the system boils down to is to increase the player base during EA phases, and it all makes sense, however in EA you get some discount, which, funnily enough equates to the amount you could use if you just waited until release anyway, so the bonus system is really for spending on modules you weren't that interested in, which all makes a lot of sense. Until half way through last year, there wasn't really anything I wasn't interested in, and there rarely is in DCS, because it's all good stuff.

I'm not really minding too much, but it was a bit of a silly system in that way if you were an enthusiast. What would maybe be nicer is a way to spend all the discount before summer, but perhaps allow a greater % chunk of your accrued bonus to spend on it.

I think really it comes down to OCD and seeing $40 sitting there I can't (all) use!

This decision from them to have some kind of carry-over will have a significant impact on the trust they have from their biggest customers. We have to keep in mind that those who have big bonus points are also their biggest customers. If they feel left behind .... then its a dangerous move from ED.

I guess they will take a wise decision here.

Here’s my take. I have €44 bonus as it stands. Say I decide to buy the Tomcat, i then receive more bonus points. The issue I have had with the current system is that I never seem to get to use my bonus points. What’s the point of having bonus points l accumulate when I can’t spend them?? So ED introduces a more sensible bonus point structure which I applaud but it doesn’t negate the fact that my hard earned bonus points over the years are unredeemable in terms of buying something useful like a new module. The bonus points are and have been sitting there for years, absolutely useless system (no offense or disrespect to anyone) but useless nonetheless.

Yup, we are looking at all this feedback, and hope we can do something for people that stand to drop a lot of collected points.

We are watching feedback, but understand it is a two-way street as well, with the less restricted system we can't just do a 1:1 conversion either, the systems are different and not compatible. But feedback will be passed along.

May be not a 1:1 ratio, but you can know who bought what and when and if they have ever used bonus. So just something to bring over that amount of never been able to use points. The fact is that the current system didnot allow you to spend them all, neither the release rate of modules is. This is not ED or any third parties fault, complete module take times to complete. Its just that expiration date kinda make no sens to me, if the old bring 20% and the new 10%, then cut in half what we got and transfert it.

Posted

I do not really understand why a 2:1 transfer ratio is considered fair. In the old system you had to accompany your bonus points with a big pile of cash. Not so in the new system. If I want to buy a campaign now, I can only use about $2 or $3 worth of bonus. Meaning that ED will still receive some cash. In the new system I can buy the campaign without spending extra cash. The old bonus points were not free to spend, there were strings attached. The new ED miles are with much less restrictions, making them more valuable. So the transfer ratio would be higher than 2:1, which would be the naive monetary transfer value.

Note als, that given the fact that there will be a large amount of idle bonus points amongst the customers, any transfer of current bonus points to the new system will mean a drop in cashflow for ED. I think that this also needs to be taken into account.

Imho fair would be to give currents customers a fair change of spending their bonus points in the old system. For example increase the amount of bonus points you can use on a single purchase. Now you can trade 20% of the purchase price with bonus points, but ED could increase this to, say, 50%. It would essentially be a sale for people with many bonus points, i.e. the loyal customers.

I think is good ratio is 4:1 then100$ for old bonus to 25$ for new system
