Sonoda Umi Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Hi guys, I just tested my Tomcat max speed that only reached Mach 2.0, cannot get faster anymore.(at Appx. 50000ft). Unfortunately, not reached Mach 2.3+ as public data saying. How about you guys’ maximum speed got? Please say your max speed at certain altitude with your aircraft configurations. Thanks.
Victory205 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Be patient. I've had it up to 2.3 at 40,000 feet and 1.3 at SL. It's constantly being tweaked for a number of reasons. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
some1 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 50k is too high for normal jets, you'll get better results in DCS at 40'000 ft. That being said, at 40k the best I got clean was around 2.1 I think. Don't remember the exact number. Wrench Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I heard from the FPP that they got one up to (IIRC) M2.03 with bombs and a LANTIRN, but we couldn't get a above 1.2 with a 2 2 and 2 loadout. (2 54, 2 7, 2 9, and 2 tanks. Carrier Script.

Harlikwin Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Be patient. I've had it up to 2.3 at 40,000 feet and 1.3 at SL. It's constantly being tweaked for a number of reasons. I've gotten around that too. I think ~40k was 2.2 but I can barely read the dial. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Eldur Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) [...] I tried to take her performance. I climbed to 48k in full AB, had around 1.7 up there, went down in a 5° descent slope, but couldn't exceed 2.15, at 30k I decided to pull up to see how far I could get up with that. [...] The first shot was taken at ~36.700', roughly the altitude where the best speeds are achieved. The second one shows I got faster though by descending further down. One thing worth mentioning might be the nozzle position. I never had it past 3.5 up there. But I guess that's right. This made me check my throttle axes at least, but they really were firewalled. By the way I tried to hold the glide slope as good as possible by having the HUD in landing mode and keeping the TVV at 0° on the ladder (+5 being the actual horizon). Talk about being spoiled by all those modern jets, but it works for me DCS standard day in the middle eastern desert. I was going to try this out again levelled out at ~36.500'. Sonoda Umi Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Have a specific about tweaking nozzle position?
Sonoda Umi Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Still some problems here. at 35000ft, the Heatblur F-14B seems not capable to reach Mach 2.2 as those diagrams saying. Data from:F14AAP-1.1 Performance Charts F-14A(Plus)/F-14D
Sonoda Umi Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 (edited) Besides, Heatblur F-14B not match those performance data precisely. Data from: 01-F14AAD-1 Flight Manual F-14D Flight Performance of F-14B can be identical to F-14D due to share the same engines. You can see below that F-14B, D can reach speed of Mach 2.2 with 4 AIM-7s at appx. 48000ft. Edited March 19, 2019 by Sonoda Umi

With great respect, I believe that those max allowable airspeed doesn’t imply the aircraft can actually reach these speed in level flight but rather an operation limit (ie.the plane won’t disintegrate if it operate within these limit).
jcdata Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Those are operational limits of the stores end of the airframe. I don't know if heatblur has the drag indexes modeled. When I did flight simulations for work my f110 engine f-14b kept going past what was stated of documents above because you are the governor of the speed. It took a long time to get up there. I don't know the criteria that they had but I have to be within 1% of what was listed. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
fat creason Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Around 37,000 ft the B should be able to well exceed M 2.1 in level flight. I’m currently doing some fine tuning to top speeds after some last minute changes made prior to release. Things should be fairly close already though. Jester986 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 I've hit M2.0 clean at 29,000. Was drag racing a 15 that was able to slowly pull away.

Yup, I hit about M2.15 today at just about 37,000 feet, clean.
Harlikwin Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 2.1 2.2 was my best 40k ish alt. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. I’m currently doing some fine tuning to top speeds after some last minute changes made prior to release. Things should be fairly close already though. Is that based on real world data? The B-model really slowed above 1.5 or so and could be outrun by the A at those higher end speeds. I thought the top end speed in reality was right around 2.0 and that would only happen with some porpoising. Well over 2.1 straight and level doesn’t sound quite right to me for the B. Victory205 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 They have to provide and use valid data to "certify" the module. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
Possum Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 My B Natops Max Allowable Speed charts do not go beyond Mach 2.0. It was different for the A, and it seems the D as well. Maybe the data changed with more testing later on, I’m not sure.
lucky-hendrix Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I supose you all are testing this with 'clean' aircraft. How fast should I expect to be able to go with a 2-2-2 loadout ? (with & with out the external tanks ? )

MurderOne Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 It's pretty close I think. Sorry, no cool signature here.
pete_auau Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 tried going to 50k and than point the nose straight down to the earth:)
