I am just learning the Huey and the cockpit and flying is fabulous in the Reverb. It's really like you are there at this point.

Huey is one of my favorites. But I can't wait for the cockpit texture update so it's on par with F/A-18. It's so flat, isn't it? A10C has the same texture issue and that's getting an update. I don't remember if Huey is in line for a texture update.

OK, I think I'm one of the lucky ones. I've always found that the Ready on the Ramp F/A18C eats FPS. But with OB, I start at 45FPS, then as soon as I make the first left turn, it shoots up to 75-90. And pretty stays at high 80's and 90 even at low level flight over downtown.

But with stable release, it starts at 45 and goes up to may 65 or 70. It's actually still pretty smooth. I'll double check the settings to make sure they are the same and post in the other thread.

The Tblisi TF51 flight is more or less locked at 90 for both GA and OB. So not sure what's going on there.

@dburne, I tried the Normandy CAS mission. That used to eat FPS as well. Well, I'm getting 90 FPS almost throughout with Reverb. So I'm at a loss as well.

Ok guys - Shopblt gave me my Fedex tracking number and the headset is *supposed* to be here tomorrow.... I hope it shows...

Based on the earlier posts by the august body on this thread, 188% seems to work well in Steam for SS with PD @ 1.0

I'm going to leave my other settings alone and give that a whirl.

I guess I'll also try the zip tie method on the mondo cable to keep the connection tight.

Any further suggestions?

I see people going on about 90fps and it totally astonishes me! My system is very similar to yours, and I get a steady 45fps with Motion Smoothing and maybe around 50-55 without it. That was on the Reverb and my Vive Pro.

What are your settings? SteamVR SS, PD, MSAA, shadows etc.?

Steamvr = 250%

PD = 1.0

MSAA = 4X

Shadows = High

45 FPS with my rig i am very pleased at this moment.

Use cable/connector mod.

This is perhaps the reason of your issue.

I'd recommend that it's not only FPS you want to look at, but also Frametime.

Using the fpsVR Tool in Steam, you can get a good look at what the effect the changes you are performing are having on the overall experience.

If you are CPU or GPU bound, this information can help you make appropriate adjustments to graphics controls to fix the stutter, or frame drag, etc. THis might point to where more tuning or overclocking of your game rig will take you a notch higher in capability.

Low Frametimes in GPU and CPU = a smooth experience. FPS above 45-65....to 90 isn't so great if your Frametime is high and pushing you into frame drag, stutter, and microstutter.

I CAN get 90fps on my 1080ti FTW but if the Frametime is so high I kick into dropping frames, then high FPS isn't enough. The experience becomes variable in MP as soon as more aircraft and objects come into play. Above 45FPS with horsepower to spare and a good set of Frametimes in the teens or mid-20's makes the overall experience very smooth and remove the variable response.

Disappointed in hearing about the flickering issue which is why I'm still waiting(besides it not being available for purchase in US other than shopblt).

It has its own thread.. I will bump it back up from page two for those that missed it. It is absolutely essential to avoid disconnects.

Having the Reverb plugged into a USB port on the motherboard is a possible suspect. These HMDs really need a 3rd party USB card with a PSU connection to function reliably. They eat up a lot of bus power.

Yep, that was one of the issues I had. Really annoying.

Also one of the issues the HP Reverb support guy was very aware of when I was organising my RMA.

It does appear that Microsoft is at times categorizing the Reverb as a HoloLens sensor in Windows. I would not be surprised to see fixes and patches get categorized that same way. :smilewink:

My thoughts on this flickering issue .....I'm starting to lean toward heat as it seems to me if there were an issue with usb power it should be there from the onset in game....Especially if your running a good PS and gaming motherboard.

Today I experienced the same same thing after the about 2-1/2 hours of play. When the headset got noticeably warmer the flickering started.

Tomorrow the PCI Card should be here with the direct to PS connectors.... I'll try it but my Tech spidey sense is tell me that's not it

My first Lenovo Explorer VR headset had a USB short problem where the plug would get really hot and the unit would shut down after about a minute. Apparently, a good number of them had the same issue. The second one was fine. That is when Amazon Prime 2 day shipping is nice.

So far with about 20 hours on it the Reverb experience has been great compared to the Lenovo. I am not too impressed with either company's products generally, however. My concern is they do a recall eventually on all of them (even if they are working perfectly like mine) and then the replacement isn't as good in some regard. :-)

I agree with you. I've never felt it was relating to USB power, as I had mine directly connected to a powered USB port, and that made no difference.

You could be right about the heat thing as well, as I experienced a lot of heat at times, and I didn't relate it to the flickering at the time, but maybe it was.

I'm also a little surprised about the whole cable clip thing working for some, as it's a click connector which didn't seem to have any play in it that I could see.

Glad it's working though for some people.

Welp.... I got the headset and I really like the Res a lot ...things are much clearer ....The unit is lighter than the Odyssey and feels smaller ...didn't notice much of a difference in FOV ....If your coming from CV1 you'll be God smacked at the clarity ...from the O+ there will be a definite difference in clarity you just won't be amazed, more like "definitely clearer"....

Easily read most text in aircraft and the huds are clear as a bell.. I could spot contacts and ground targets much further out than before and with more definition to them ....

I was running the headset at a much higher res with PD 1.0 in DCS and had steady 40/45 frames near the ground and over city's and higher FPS as you climbed with most setting high like 12x AA and such.....

I havent really messed with settings much yet or tweaked so. I'm not saying its 4k monitor quality but in terms of VR today standards its tops .....

My headset is not without issues though unfortunately (flickering) and I'll probably have to return it for a replacement ...I'll keep doing that till' I get a good one without issues cause I don't want to go back to the old res ...I need it now ....I'm hooked
