Game suddenly drops out to Windows without a warning when flying F-14.

Happens to me all the time while flying in F-14, especially in pre-build missions in missions menu.

I downloaded some user created missions and also experienced it.

Usually doesn't happen in missions built by myself.

Don't know what causes it, but the longer the mission goes, the more probability.

Didn't occur before.

I'm getting the same issue, I now can't run any mission, and on my own map it cuts out when on air targets. :huh:

I'm enjoying the most expensive free game in history. Leave me alone. :joystick::pilotfly:

So, waiting for the hotfix?

As far as we know, they have it fixed. So should likely see it in tomorrows Open Beta update.

I dont know if it can fix your issues.

But have you tried to delete the FXO and Metashaders2 folders?

I have crashes before but after several minutes online, not a single crash

By the way anyone had problems with the update process itself ?

When trying to update from 2.5.4.28461 openbeta to 2.5.4.29004 openbeta (today's one), the updater download progress gets stuck...

Nope, worked fine.

I just killed the process by accident right in the middle, had to restart.

Before I deleted all caches, and after that I did a repair, but the repair didn't find anything strang, thus I consider my installation as working.

1 - Only "tweaking" I had previously in DCS was;

- removing the modules icons which I do not have, from the bottom of the screen;

- added my own F-14 wallpaper.

2 - Because of the above already run a REPAIR twice, but no solution;

3 - (just remembered - also installed a new GPU on my system.)

Any ideia of what it might be ?

... this one sounds promising:

You may try the following: hit the stabilizer of a AI flown F-14 (e.g. with your gun), then see how the "world" crashes :megalol:

Regarding the present update...

I really hope ED / DCS devs start sorting all this "complications" in a nearby future.

As I'm really starting to get demotivated from the SEVERAL bothers implied to get this sim in working order :

1 - payment issues (not from my part), before being allowed to download F-14 module, weeks ago ;

(always paid exactly the same way as before, with PayPal)

2 - yesterday, impossible to update from openbeta 2.5.4.28461 to 2.5.4.29004 - had to uninstall DCS ;

3 - overnight 6.5 hours duration download for me ;

4 - relativelly complex process to get your screen resolution right again ;

(do it wrong and you won't see the OK button at DCS Options Menu... Alt Enter / Ctrl Alt Del don't work in my DCS)

5 - I'm defragmenting my HDD before installing the F-14 and other modules ;

...and now I'm reading posts left and right, that this update 2.5.4.29004 (which was supposed to fix the bugs), seems to be itself even more buggier and problematic ???

Do not intend to rant here - just being frankly honest.

If ED / DCS devs ever solve these problems, I'll even offer a good Whisky or a good Porto to each of them, anytime they come to Portugal.

unrelated to the content of your post, I noticed you write you use a HDD for DCS World.

may I recommend you try a SSD, you will be very positively surprised by how much this will boost your game performance. In my case, it completely eliminated stutters.

Yeah I know, actually it's still going, as my philosophy isn't spending much money if I can avoid it.

(Go figure, spent some in a new GPU last week though, which was 3 or 4 times more expensive than an SSD...)

I'm still using an 1150 Socket Motherboard (AsRock H81 Pro BTC rev 2.0) can I plug any SSD in here ?

I have the problem that, as soon as I'm on the F-14 module, I can only finish DCS by exiting it with the Task Manager. When I click Exit in DCS, the screen stays black. Even if I wait several minutes. DCS is still running. I then have to quit DCS in Task Manager.

Try to switch from F-14 wallpaper to any other wallpaper. I changed it today to Mi-8 wallpaper and now DCS quits on exit without the blackscreen freeze.

Just buy a normal ssd with a sata connection.

You could go for an even faster ssd (m2) with a pci upgrade card but you won't see any difference in dcs and other games

(Good work dude)

I was experiencing the same as a result of the last March OB update. But This suggestion worked for me. God knows why a wallpaper would cause this......but it now exits without the black screen crash.

The game is constantly and seemingly randomly crashing for RIOs since the modules release, is there anything being done about this? Are you guys any closer to tracking down this issue? Its killing the enjoyment right now.
