Please make sure the README file includes mod dependancies, i.e. "Requires GPT, Teka's Tree mod, Shaders", etc......; or optimum setup. We don't want to screw this up.

X_Man, Gransurf has nothing to do with location of certain Airbases!

For all non Merzifon users all objects and textures that Grandsurf is working on will appear in Razdolnoye! (AFAIK)

It's a true that there should really be some NATO airbases in LO map, having US and NATO airplanes based in Caucasus and Crimea is slightly unreallistic!

BS might introduce some new airbases but I belive they're gonna be in Georgia, Country that's still far from joining NATO!

BOMBING RANGE

s there a way to include a bombing range in one of the empty areas of the Lock ON! map?

If you have maping software goto these coordinates to see The AVON Park Range in FL-US.

This would be a good place to model in Lock ON! since it in a green area.

RANGE ON MAP:

LATITUDE: 27°36'18.70"N

LONGITUDE: 81°12'0.82"W

RANGE AREA FOOT PRINT:

NORTH: 27°36'41.46"N EAST: 81°11'51.67"W

SOUTH: 27°34'15.60"N WEST: 81°14'36.25"W

My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

I wonder what the ratio of people whom have left the Razdolnoye base in it's orginal position verses those who have moved it to Merzifon?

Posted

I moved on to Merzifon, but I heard grandsurf and birdy are working together, if that's true, then shouldn't it be based on the latest scenery 1.3 mod which has the Merzifon AB?

Well this is not entirely true. Allthough the actual runway moving is done by other fles, Grandsurf is modding the scenery file that include (Merzifon) objects like hangars and control towers.

My latest scenery mod (v1.3) has Raznadolye moved to Merzifon but I'm sharing my 'source' files with Grandsurf so we/he could always release a version with Merzifon and one without it.

Actually I don't like the idea of moving the airbase at all for simple reason... people who have and have not the mod will NOT see things the same way... for this reason either we should all have the mod with airbase moved or none... or at least those flying in same server should have it one way or the other. I am all against it. For a mod like that (moving the airbase) it should be a mod on it's own... I used it myself untill one day I was in server with guys who didn't have it... and our base was Raznadolye...

also... I never actually thought of checking this but what happens to position of the Raznadolye base in russian aircraft in navigation mode once you move it? Is it located where the mod is point to or is it left at default coordinates???

Staying true to the original theater map is important and I understand it completely - but - no reasonably "realistic" east/west flashpoint campaign/scenario can be accomplished without a "Merzifon" type airbase of some type - IMHO. None of the Russian/CIS states depicted have a NATO relationship. If you're going to have NATO OpFor campaigns, then leaving all these flights as "airstarts" is just not a plausible option. It needs to be included. Whether that's as part of a version 1 mod or as a separate separate version 2 doesn't matter.

Navigation and ILS will point you to Merzifon if you use that mod.

Probably the closest thing to a NATO airbase could be Sukumi; Western planes use it as part of the UNOMIG peace keeping forces located there.

(search the 'mission' forum for the kodori-gorge campaign to get more IRL action involving UNOMIG forces)

Thanks Birdy - I didn't know you'd put out a campaign covering this event. Got a copy and will check it out.

While I agree that with the reasons of the Merzifon airbase, only it is a real bugger when you take off 300 nautical miles away from your sqaudmates!

Yeah - this is my you make sure you all have the same files installed.

Games that are heavy into multiplayer (like IL-2), such mods would be a disaster! LOMAC isn't that heavily used online so there isn't that much of an issue.
