Thanks to you and @Rudel_chw for the continued effot to keep the mod up to date and useful to the community 🙂

Ditto.

I haven’t flown it for a bit and hadn’t seen this thread liven up. As someone that has to stop myself from posting lengthy waffles, as well as not being a user of any discords, I’m quite happy to read what’s been going on here and grateful for it. Good on ya for doing what you can for everyone to enjoy this more, it’s a great little jet and if I’d have paid for it I don’t think I’d be complaining too much. I’ll have to get back in it, I’ve been growling at my toebrakes in the Mustang lately.

Tea and medals all round then, smoke me a kipper n all that :pilotfly:

Question to anyone still using this mod I recently tried flying the t45 again after a while and I noticed the flight model seemed crazily unstable when I looked at the in aircraft hud the AOA indicator was up around 30 all the time, is that normal? And no matter how much I trimmed nose down the second I let go of the flight stick it would just pitch nose up I tried on several maps and weather conditions and they were all the same is my mod bugged or is that just how it flies?

Check double axis bindings in the controls settings. It does not behave like that at all for me.
Cheers!

Yep, fine for me too.

I've had a bit of trouble with the blue smoke though, I rattled the can and it shakes like it's empty. Someone must've been at it? 🕵️‍♂️

Thought I was red one too? Gutted. 😁

i was having a play last night and loaded up with 2 pylons of bombs - but i couldn't get them to release ? I heard a blip in my head set when i press the weapon release button. I've switched master arm on. I asume I've missed a step - do i need to select the pylon or something 1st ? couldn't see an obvious key binding ????

Someone's getting demoted. Maybe Red 2 or 3? 😁

Funny, I loaded the pylons etc last night for the first time, other than having smoke o course. I did the same as you did. Master arm on and trying all my buttons, I couldn't remember my bindings to even get the smoke on (absolute disgrace I know and I'm suitably ashamed). Redeemed myself with a bit of research and got the smoke on but couldn't drop bombs or fire anything else.

I hit a mountain at about a quarter past mach-silly with the pointy end while looking about the cockpit.

I'll have a look again later.

Everything's fair game as it's technically a trainer so we're expert pilots anyway 🙂. Smoke on - Rahhhhhhhhhh brrrrrrrrrrrrp.

Master arm on was correct. After that do the following:

Press ‘MENU’ on one of the MFDs
Press ‘STRS’ (Stores)
Press ‘A/G’
Press ‘BOMB’
Press either ‘MAN’ or ‘CCIP’ (manual drop or continuously computed impact point)
Press your weapon release button.
Press short for single bomb drop, press long for ripple drop.

With fully loaded practice bomb racks you have 12 opportunities to miss your target.

Here is a video walkthrough of one of my missions, on ccip bombing:

The T-45 sight is pretty accurate, so you are unlikely to miss the target 🙂

i am assuming the cockpit (buttons / knobs etc) on the t45 isn't interactive ? ie  vr glove compatible ?

@andyc The switches etc. are clickable with the mouse.

Maybe you got the weapon release and gun trigger mixed up in the keybinds. I just tested and had no issues. CCIP I think doesn't work, I didn't test that tbh.

If you don't have any success post a replay track of your flight.

Thx.

Just crossed my mind: the bombs are just small smoke bombs, so if you look back from too far away you might miss it. F6 will show you your bomb in flight.

It does work and as Rudel pointed out the CCIP is even very accurate.

The only thing perhaps not working as intended is the ripple option. At least on my side I can single drop and ripple independent from the actual ripple setting on the MFD.

thanks - i got trackers enabled by default - with no pointers, I'll have a play - the earlier post from rifter made it clear on the steps i missed

Yeah, cheers Rifter and Rudel, I had a little go again at it.

I managed to fire off some rockets but only saw them leaving from one side. Didn’t work out the ripple thing either. Early days for me using any of the weapon systems in it, makes a change from the props and it’s a little bit quicker, just a bit 🙂.

@andyc  Hi, I am just a normal user like you guys, just happen to spend time looking at the scripts and making changes for myself, later got the approval of Max to publish them. I've got another update coming, based on feedback from an irl Goshawk instructor. (Just switch positions for the cold start etc.)

Regarding the suspension script changes, I haven't used it, and my scripts didn't incorporate it, basically because I don't understand the changes 😉 and didn't want to force anyone using my script changes to have the changed suspension.

There is a smoke pod addition you can install, and there is also a Swiss Hawk skin of you are looking. I'll post a link in a second here when I've found it.

I am working on fixing @Rudel_chw excellent training missions (spawn issues on the carrier), in the meanwhile the originals are on his one drive here:

https://forum.dcs.world/topic/203816-vnao-t-45-goshawk/?do=findComment&comment=4811451

By the way, if you are having issues with hooking up for launch on the super carrier, try retracting and extending the launchbar with full throttle.

@SparrowLT The fuel and thrust at high altitude is a known bug.

@fdesposito also found a bug, when the wind is >15 knots, the engine windmills and prevents repair.

ps: If you want to remove/hide the default kneeboard then go into the T-45C mod folder, navigate to \Mods\Aircraft\VNAO_T45\Cockpit\Scripts and rename or delete the "KNEEBOARD" folder. If you want to add your own kneeboard images, put them in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\T-45 (or the non-beta equivalent).

Thanks so much for doing this! I've recently rediscovered this plane, and I'd forgotten how good it is. I can't believe it doesn't get more attention!

Looking forward to the upcoming updates and training missions!

@Fresh, I have intalled the suspension script and I am doing better landings, primarily on carrier. I used to damaged the landing gear and now I am not. I really don´t think I have improved my landings, I think it is because of the script. Thanks again and regards, Fernando.

Posted (edited)

Hi Fernando,

thanks for that info. I'll install the suspension changes and give it a try. (Need to install everything again anyway because I did a fresh install to test something)..

Hi again Fernando,

I did some testing with my fresh install of the T-45C:

I cannot recommend the "suspension scripts" because it overwrites the smoke pod scripts and it introduces new weapons that the T-45C doesn't have, the captive AIM-9 and the TCTS Pod.

I will practice my landings with the original suspension 😄. (p.s. I had no problems so far with the suspension, even doing carrier landings...)

Yea sure, it was my personal recommendation based on the fact the mod adds weapons. Only that...

Hello Goshawk fans,

here is an update of my scripts file. I'm including here the smoke mod, the suspension mod (updated) (I don't recommend this yet.. it adds unrealistic weapons to the T-45C) and the themes mod. I've fixed, but not fully tested, Rudel's training missions, and I'll post a Link to them as soon as DCS approves my User File. Drag and drop the Missions folder into the ..Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Aircraft\VNAO_T45 folder, overwriting the original. With the added themes icons and mission files, you'll now have single and training missions in the DCS main menu.

UPDATE:

the missions zip file has been approved. This linked file gives you a file structure within the Mod giving you training and single player missions. Check out the link here:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3337350/

Training missions and single player missions by @Rudel_chw and @Fresh... Enjoy!

I've added a zip file with the kneeboard images I use.

Please let me know if this is too much information or overwhelming.

BRGDS,

Fresh

p.s. Time permitting, I will delve into the smoke and suspension mod and see if I can make a version without the unrealistic weapons.. watch this space...
