I'm considering getting a TM Warthog hotas and mounting the TM stick on the Warbird base.

Any downsides with this combo?

As I understand it, if I wanted to learn and use Target software, I could with this combo?

It involves a firmware upgrade to the base. Don't know if that would void the warranty.

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

You can do that without voiding any warranty.

You just need to load the correct configuration file in the VPC software

Only downside would be in losing an axis for the brake lever.

Pretty sure you won't be able to use TARGET on a Virpil base.

TM Warthog stick on Warbird base

I have the exact combo and TMW throttle. No issues with Target, you only have to spoof the VID/PID in the VPC software.

The stick is on the soft side when you throw it around even with the stronger springs installed since the Warthog grip is heavy.

I still have the weak springs in and it wobbles like a Weeble around center. It's hilarious, especially with the extension on it, but I like the throw distance. Once I have the time I'll swap out the springs.

It was necessary to run Virple's software and load the profile for the TM grip, then I moved it to my game machine and DCS had no trouble with it. I don't use Target, but everything thinks it's a stick with a bunch of buttons on it.

I am also coming off of the warthog base to a warbrd base and I cannot stand the wobble. Has anyone tried using heavier springs than what comes with the Virpils? If so what did you use please.

Thanks

I've been using the TM Hawg Stick on the WarBRD base. It's been a solid setup. I really like the precision of the WarBRD. If I had the chance to do it over again, you bet. I highly recommend the setup. Mind you, I fly "F-16 style" with the stick on my right. I like it that way.... :-)

Hi NightLord, I just switched the springs today but the difference was not what I expected, it slowed down the wobble a little, just a little.

and I cannot stand the wobble.

Me too... but, as the Supmua mentioned above, the Warthog grip is very heavy.

Rgds.

I am not aware of any guide or video, but I have done it using: VID and PID and upload it to your device. VID 044F, PID 0402

That may not make any sense to you so if you want to, send me a pm and we can talk on my flight group teamspeak. It works 90% of the time, which means it does not work 10% of the time. I live on the west coast of the USA.

I'm also considering to purchase the TM Warhog to use it on my WarBRD base, but the weight consideration is holding me back. The best solution in my opinion would be either Virpil to provide strong springs especially for the TM Warhog stick or even make their own version of the A10/F16 flight stick. Considering the upcoming ED F-16C module I think it would be great selling product.

True, this would be an ideal solution.

It shouldn't be too difficult for Virpil to offer even stronger springs.

I would purchase them

Would be a mistake for virpil making a f16 stick/ with cougar and warthog on the market already

This is exactly how I fly. Love the combo.

With the strong springs installed it is not too bad and you get used to it pretty quickly.

You have to create a new profile in the beginning specifying your grip and base, so the base knows what’s on it.
