Well Gents, I just blew the wad.

Ordered this bad boy and should have it in hand on Thursday!

MSI GAMING GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GDRR6 352-bit HDMI/DP/USB Ray Tracing Turing Architecture Graphics Card (RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO)

Seemed to be the hottest card out at the moment with in a price range I could choke down. Thank god for Amazons 5 monthly payments option!!!! So its not all one big chunk of money.

So, I think with this card replacing my GTX1060, having increased my RAM from 16gb to 32gb, installing a 1tb SSD drive (1TB M.2 SSD is next) and the installed I7-8700 running at around 4.0Ghz, I should be able to get some really great rates on the Odyssey + with the graphics cranked up now. Whew!

Next step is to start building the pit. Going to move all my equipment into a bedroom that I am converting into an office. I have the Next Level Racing Flight Sim package, so it can set off from my main desk. Going to order the new racing sim setup hardware soon as well to get back into NR2k3 and iRacing. Should be a fun little game room for the grand son and his buddies when they come over now.

Just gonna say what you prob don't want to hear..should have gone for a 1080ti Strix 11GB or something similar and waited for the next gen cards. The 2080 Ti only offers a tiny improvement over the 1080 Ti and the cost is through the roof.

But congrats anyway - always nice to get a GPU upgrade

the installed I7-8700 running at around 4.0mhz

That CPU must have an easy life ;-). But it will be a bottleneck, you should release it to 4.0GHz :smilewink:

Is it a 8700 or a 8700K? If its the K version, you should run it a bit faster... 4.5GHz or higher depending on the cooler.

The 2080 / 2080TI is a good choice. The 1080TI would have been a bad choice, since the new VR Headsets will hopefully start to use the VirtualLink on the RTX Cards..

most users don’t even have VL.

if it’s required they will lose a lot of sales

Been using the Virtual Link on my 2080 Ti ever since I got it, love it.

Nah, VirtualLink is basicly USB Type-C and an open standard. There are already adapters for VL to HDMI/USB3.0 so a adapter into the other direction will be available when the VR Headsets hit the market. VL can push enough power and data to reduce the silly cables...

There isn't really anything on the horizon anytime soon and it is a huge upgrade from the 1060 card! Congrats on the card and enjoy!!

Nah, there always is, thing is they just wait till I buy something then announce it,.. :P  :)

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

The Odyssey I used to have connected to the VL/USB-C connection via a Microsoft HDMI to USB-C Adapter. My subjective impression was, that the colors in DCS became more vivid.

For the Pimax I bought the same Microsoft DP to USB-C Adapter, but the Pimax couldn´t connect through the USB-C Adapter/connection.

Good for you. Nice setup!

I incorporated my flight sim into my nextgen chair. Works great as a dual setup and takes up less room.

4mhz... OOOPS!!! Fixed it! :megalol:

I ended up going after a 1070TI for the moment. (can use it in another build later). I have to do a little more checking on my p/s to see if I have enough ports for the 2080ti... But I'll probably order it this week. :pilotfly:
