Hi Hummingbird,

It is still in ED's development list, but we do not have any news or time scales to share currently.

Thanks

AFAIK the F-4E is supposed to follow the Mi-24, which itself is supposed to follow the F-16.

But as you know: Plans are always subject to change.

Darn, I suppose any timeframe guess is just speculation right now... I have my fingers crossed!

And it has no Mavericks or ARMs.

Well the good news is, that the development pace of the F-16 appears to be fast, so even though the F-4 is down the queue, it might arrive sooner than we fear.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

- Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS.

| Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |

I wouldn't be so optimistic here, because the reason why the F-16 is comming along so fast is that it shares a lot of tech with the F/A-18 and hence can reuse a lot of code from the F/A-18. The F-4E on the other hand, with all its raw and analogue technology, will requie a lot of new code to be written. Also there's the whole crewmember AI thing that needs to be done.

Well no, but its still quicker than having to reinvent the wheel again, and taking the time with F-16 as is done with the F-18.

I remember that after the Mi-24P it's the AH-1F's turn and after that the F-4E.

Right, I forgot about the Cobra. :music_whistling:

Although, I'm not really sure if the Cobra is supposed to come before the F-4E. There has not been any information or even dev updates and pictures about the Cobra unlike for the Phantom.

Yes, but no, the F-4E got put on ice, when BST merged with ED, so they could put all their manpower on the F/A-18 and now F-16 and Mi-24.

I have! And I love it, especially when I play the RIO but of course you and I both know it is about as similar to the F-4 as the 777 is to the C-17!

Is it true that separate teams work on the rotary wing aircraft and the fixed wing aircraft? I'm doing my best to grasp at every chance I can even if it's naive thinking :D

No idea how seperated these projects are. There's also "Black Shark 3" in development.

As such, Heatblur should just do it. All the reasons ED is quicker with the Viper align with why HB would be quicker with the Phantom.

Hopefully the F-4E is next after the F-16, and the helis such as the Mi-24 & AH-1 hopefully have a seperate team working on them.

The F-4E was already well on its way when Belsimtek merged with ED, so it shouldn't take too long to make.

How about ED does a USAF phantom and HB does a USN phantom? :)

How big are the differences anyway? Would make sense for one team to make both as they very much have lots of commonalities even while being different.
