juimo Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Finnish F/A-18C Hornet UFC!! Is it the same like in SuperHornet? This screenshot is from this Finnish Air Force video: https://www.facebook.com/Ilmavoimat/videos/3080699948623576/?t=21 And I noticed in all my touch and go photos (2019-9-10 in Lusi) that flaps are full position also taking off! Nooch Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Yes Finnish Hornets have upgraded touch UFC, it makes them a bit special. Flaps to full extended is probably part of their procedure for performing short take off and landing runs from improvised landing strips. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
_mu110_ Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Thanks for sharing the video, also cool to note that on top of the upgraded UFC, they have white instead of green symbology for the DDIs like the Super Hornets. Check out my skins and mods on the User Files.
falcon_120 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Thanks for sharing the video, also cool to note that on top of the upgraded UFC, they have white instead of green symbology for the DDIs like the Super Hornets. Someone thought after many years XD So much easy to see.
caponi Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 and watch for the short way this F-18 can stop :music_whistling: in Nellis 210R i have to use 80% of the runway .... and this thing is long too much ...
Tholozor Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 In the video you can see they've got an arresting wire set up across the road right before touchdown. Tarmiz Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 The UFC was updated in the second MLU update (Mid-Life Upgrade) to Finnish hornets. Here's a link to an article from Finnish Air Force.

AG-51_Razor Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 (edited) I just read this article that says a Finnish Pilot on an exchange tour with the Marines has just trapped aboard one of our carriers! I just tried and I can stop well before the taxiway bravo (4000lbs of fuel, no wind). same conditions as you ... i have no idea .... i think i landed a bit late (middle of the black rubber) extended air brake at touch down full brakes on rudder pedal ... stood still half way from bravo to alpha too much ...
PitbullVicious Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 same conditions as you ... i have no idea .... i think i landed a bit late (middle of the black rubber) extended air brake at touch down full brakes on rudder pedal ... stood still half way from bravo to alpha I was also aiming at the middle of the black spot (tried to be fair). Once all tires are down, throttle to idle, full brakes, no airbrake, at 100 knts stick to belly. Stopped completely well before bravo. i9-9900K @ 5.1GHz | MSI Ventus 3X OC RTX3090 24GB | 64GB 3200MHz DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z390-E | Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 Sound Card | Virpil T50CM2 base w/ F/A-18C / A-10C / Virpil T50CM2 Grip | WinWing Super Taurus Throttle | MFG pedals | TekCreations Hornet UFC, Landing Panel, Right Console | WinWing Hornet Combat Ready Panel | Buddy Fox UFC | Foxx Mount | 3 x TM Cougar MFD | HP Reverb G2 | Wacom Intuos S (with VRK) | Honeycomb Alpha Yoke | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | CH Fighter Stick Pro & Throttle | MS Sidewinder 2 FFB | Track IR 5 | Oculus Rift CV1 善く戦う者は、まず勝つべからざるを為して、以て敵の勝つべきを待つ。

caponi Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 (edited) yes ... pulling back for aero brakes incl. Airbrake at touch down what means stick to belly ? and i will try it again next time :) edit said: it works ... my fault ... i was too high at approach :( thx Edited September 21, 2019 by caponi too much ...
=4c=Nikola Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Simulated touch screen doesn't feel right, no audio feedback. I would't like it in the sim. Do not expect fairness. The times of chivalry and fair competition are long gone.
maxTRX Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I just have a quick comment on the title of this thread. When doing touch and go's in any jets that I'm aware of you never reconfigure the flaps or anything else until you happily climbing away from the runway/deck or low approach. So, if you slammed on the deck with full flaps you fly off the same way. Unless you meant stop and go.
