Just tried this with my new rig, E6850, 8800gfx, with the settings pumped up, and have put on some old tracks i had recorded. (havent been flying for some time so stick is in storage)

Boy does this sim still hold up. It looks absolutely fantastic. Nothing in my experience comes as close the the feel of real flight as this sim. Im only now seeing it as it should be seen. Beautiful.

When LOMAC came it was another game that was made to be played in the future. I always loved that in a game. It went through 3 different PC's I had. I had a T-bird 1200 at launch, could barely play it, then AMD64 3200+ played reasonably well and now my Quad wich doubled in perfomance. It was only with this system that I could finaly see how this game was meant to be. I have everything upped to high and no stuttering at all. I usualy get 50+ FPS in the air and rarely 30- FPS on the ground, depending on the servers settings. I have been having 60+ FPS in half the servers I get into lately.

Yeah even now Lomac is pretty (in its class of games), thanks for creators. But when BS comes out it should work faster (?) cause it is Dx9c? Am I wrong?

IMO there is nothing on the market which can compare with LOFC. That sim is upgraded continously by the community and hopefully with patch 1.13. I enjoy it very much to fly the A-10A and when the time comes, the Tornado!!!!!!!!

Absolutely. LO is far from retirement, I'm glad there are still people that can think positive.

Of course we all now happy FC is pretty but we are happy now cause we have good hardware for FC... so remember what was in some years earlier - game had too much, really to high requirements as on ours earliers PCs. Game is NOW pretty, earlier rare you could set all on high, game's engine is f****d (apologize) in performace. :)

Yes definitely a game ahead of its time.

...or look at it another way, the game was designed for the future.

Nevertheless the Sim was flyable back then, but you had to choose which eye candy graphics you wanted to use (but not all of it at the same time). Now with advances in CPU power and Graphics power (or more to the point the reduction in price to a level that normal people can afford), it is possible to run with pretty much everything max'ed out.

I know but let imagine now example something game which to run smoothly requires 4 GB RAM fast RAM, minimum Fourth-Duo Core processors, and GPUx2 SLI. And nobody will be happy if producer tells you "you'll play good for 2 years, wait...". The developers should optimize code, like did example Valve. Some games had pretty graphics and torelable requirements, all depends on coders, how they want optimize or if they want optimize.

...or look at it another way, the game was designed for the future.

After thinking I can't agree - why - simple reason. If game is done for "future" it should shining of super effects in the future. FC is pretty but when we compare it do Dx9c it blends. In my opinion "future" in FC case is only cover for not to end optimize graphic engine and game. (with all respect to its creators). Now Crysis is shining its effects ect, but for two years (or earlier) it will blend when we compare its premiere day graphic and present graphic, and it would be not fair when example producer of Crysis tell you that you'll play it good for 2 years when other games will have much better graphic than Crysis game. Then this game isn't future game - it is only laziness or no time of its creators to make it better and faster. i hope I wrote clearly and reasonalby, my English is not to end very well.;)

Indeed, Lomac is a software for today's hardware. It reallly flies like a breeze now.

Word>> When i first purchased this game i was putting in 4-6 hours a night of flying time, then lock on gold came out. To this day i am still impressed by the graphic quality and gameplay. Plus the 3rd party mods and fps improvements make this game the best flight sim ever. For awhile there i thought Falcon 4.0 allied force might be close only because of the dynamic campaign...NOT....

good thread idea.

lofc is definately still alive and well.

with the continuous input from community members,

lots of active squads, great events like red flag.

and a great community base, even if we are down a few key pilots :(

looking at some of the current mods and future ones,

lofc has plenty of life left in it, and as said above only now are seeing pc's that can handle this aging sim and run it as it was meant to be run,

all settings on high and super smooth game play.

something a lesser pc just cannot manage, like mine :)

an major upgrade is just around the corner for me and once complete,

lofc will be the first game to get put thru its paces.

long live our lockon  and ed's future developments.

we really are blessed to have such software,

perhaps not perfect, but i haven't found anything that comes close.

o/t:

will have to make a heli-chair bracket for my sfs throttle and connect that to my CH combatstick slider axis mod :).

pretty, indeed. I'd like to begin seeing pictures of the runways with the new texture mode that is about to be released. That biases LO to the sublime beauty state.
