There is one WWII campaign in DCS right now - Normandy 1944 with Normandy map, German/US/UK ground assets of this period and many planes historically used in this operation.

So, what to do with Yak-3 in DCS Normandy enviroment?

Fight some fictional scenario against Germans or against US over the Channel?

Do some free flights over modern day Caucasus?

I'm glad they are making P-47, Me-262 and Mosquito, instead of Yak, because this planes fit Normandy campaign.

Not because I prefer this plane over some other but because I like the idea of historical operation filled with historical plane set, historical map and ground assets.

Instead of some another random plane completely completely out of context for the sandbox or alternative history.

And besides all of that.....the Yak-3 is a beautiful, a$$ kicking plane!! I would be a first day buyer

Agree. Yak-3 is as iconic as the La-7. The German air force warned their pilots not to engage it at an altitude below 6000 meters.

As nice as the Yak-3 is, I think it would fall into several pitfalls at once that the 109K already explored.

Did the Yak 3 ever see a K9?

I did think that by the time the K9 and D4 arrived, that the Luftwaffe was pretty much 100% focused on trying to intercept and shoot down bombers over Germany?

The Yak-3 would be awesome. I'd love to see more Red WWII assets and modules. As I have stated before we have the I-16 and MiG-15 it would be nice to fill in the empty in between

We'll get La-7 "soon".

Yak-3 is iconic, but I'd rather have the Yak-9, if only because it served in Korea as well as in WWII.

Whenever comments like this come up, I will suggest a compromise in the words of the great 20th century Indian  writer Farrokh Bulsara

"I want it all"
