Many of us like to take DCS very seriously especially online. In all honesty it's unbelievably annoying when someone gets into the taxiway and not only goes full afterburner, but does a full Vin Diesel and drifts the plane on the taxiway like a Nissan 350Z while still at burner and attempts a Taxiway take off, especially when the rules state explicitly NO TAXIWAY TAKEOFFS. It's just so much worse when you are patiently sitting on the ramp getting your weapons and starting up, only to see someone headed into you and BOOM now you gotta start all over again!

Similar to how we have rules for autokick for blue on blue, can something similar be introduced for Taxiway take offs? An option that can be enabled when setting up the server or mission. Maybe there can also be a certain speed limit on the taxiway where if you cross it you can get kicked.

Now I understand that there are beginners who play online and may not know how to taxi properly. Can we introduce a new feature into the game for them like Progressive taxi?

+1 and also if people could please use the correct runway and not just the closest one to the ramp. Some servers do have wind.

Unfortunately some people in MP have no notion of discipline. So now we ask for "policing" measures. I sympathize with that request to some extent, but I would hate to be kicked if I have raced on the taxiway trying to escape a vulcher.

My suggestion would be to create a private server and only let your peeps in. Public servers are just that, public.

I always find it interesting that people use “public”‘resources to learn, then when they become “experts “. Try to regulate everything to their liking. Certainly I can see how very annoying are the issues that the OP brings up in his world. That said the solution to his problem is In his hands.

My particular grind is the guys that cruise around in a well known server just off the end of a runway behind a mountain and loft 120’s from miles away before your flaps are up. Then bitch because said server isn’t keeping their “stats” correctly.

So I don’t fly there....

Get it done and enjoy your server.

A couple of strategically placed vehicles (trucks, tankers, humvees, etc.) on the taxiways might solve the problem.

They are really easy to steer around if you are just taxiing normally, but would be difficult to avoid if you were trying to take off.

Regarding which runway to use, a marker board would be a useful asset (a portable arrow sign (two sided) which could be used by mission builders to give some hints as to which way to taxi. Using windsocks also helps. As does marking the direction in the briefing.

I don’t see in most airports anyway, any indication of what taxiway leads to what active. There seem to be a couple with markers. Maybe its me tho

The aerodrome chart should be on your kneeboard.

Copy that, now if I can figure out how to use that function:)

If you want tight, rigidly controlled rules join a clan. When you play on rando Air Quake servers, well you're going to get randos. As for being hit while preparing for takeoff, look before pulling out, if somebody coming, probably stay out of the way until he's down/crashed. That or gun it and get moving before he gets there. No different than driving on the roads in RL, don't assume what the other guy is going to do and you will have less issue.

@Thor H

What difference does it make? As long as you get airborne sithout overstressing it's irrelevant, and unless it's stormy, it's not likely to make any difference.

This is a video game. It's not real, and most of you aren't real fighter pilots. Your virtual clans aren't real military units, either, but if you want a tight environ that's where you need to go. Nobody cares about....

I understand your point of view.

To me personally it just feels the same as lf someone was driving the wrong way around the track in a racing sim, sorry i mean video game, and is a major immersion breaker.

You might be right that i am the only one that cares about it but i reserve the right to do so.

this is done through mission editor by adding triggers. if you see a server like the Aerobatics Online server, they have all airports set with a maximum taxi speed. if u get close to the max speed u are given a warning in text and if u exceed the max taxi speed u are sent back to spectator.

Change the server. Play with like minded people.

Otoh fratricide, treason and defection is real life problem - if only there was some solution preveting that from happening.

I'm against such rules. Where does it stop? Ban for not keeping the pattern? For not covering your lead? You missed the target twice? How can you be sure what is on purpose and what is accident?

Aren't there servers with CTAF frequencies? You state your intentions and then if you conflict with someone they speak up and you deconflict.

This sounds interesting, it should be in more realistic servers imo

happens on both sides, so preventing it wouldn't change the outcome. On the other hand, if wars could be prevented that would make a difference! But wait, then we'd probably not have games with fighter planes etc... :) :(
