Hello friends,

If your anything like me, then your DCS has been broken... For awhile. The FPS has been unusable and when you revert back 2 patches other things go broke...And the FPS is still hit or miss.

You've probably been on this site... Everyday.

Asking yourself 2 questions:

"When will DCS be updated!?"

And

"When will I be able to buy toliet paper again!?"

Perhaps your not like me, but there are alot of us out there. It would be nice to let us few know whats going on. Tell us kindly, what are you working on? What has ED noticed about the fps problem? Will there be an update? Whats being fixed? Is the Smegllydoodad interfering with the softwares watchamacallit? TELL US!

Please ED,

Some of us may be in the dark on basic home necessities right now, that dosen't mean we have to be in the dark on the status of a DCS fix too.

Lovingly,

Fang

An Update On The Update, Too Much..?

(Edit: This was closed in 30 seconds of me posting. Have I violated some rule as to asking for an update?) Just looking for an update

Ehm, what else do you need to know besides what was said by BigNewy? Not too difficult to comprehend...

Actually. The post was closed so fast that I lost the ability to find it.

Fang are you using Stable or Beta? I support ED's posture on people thinking that OpenBeta is supposed to be error free when in reality, it's available to test for bugs and errors. I'm an OpenBeta Standalone user (my only install) and I can see a change from the normal weekly updates that sometimes required a small hot-fix, but in light of the Super-Carrier Module coming soon, the Mariana's Island Map in the near, near future, and the other modules coming out (not to mention all the WIP Early Release Modules being updated), I can safely say that the ED Team has a lot on their plates. We all signed up for this by purchasing early access modules and pre-buying new tech to get a good deal, and part of the process is the wait and understanding when things don't go perfect. All we can do is keep an eye on the weekly news, touch base on the ED/Wags update videos, and review the changelogs when an update does occur. The only other option to be safe with your install is to go Stable and work with what we have.

I think we're all expecting our bug reports to be received and corrected by the next update, and that would be nice if we could get there...but not possible at this time. If I were recommending process improvement to ED, I'd list things like this:

- Assign a Project Manager to coordinate and guide the teams on efforts and timelines

- Streamline the teams with a representative within each group to collect and manage inputs from the bug reports and coordinate status updates with the Project Manager

- Develop a feedback status page showing the current bugs received and corrected every few days if not daily to reduce duplicate reporting of the same bugs after they are received. Customers have a hard enough time reading every thread on bug reports

- For Customers, please avoid extraneous inputs on threads with bugs that are already clarified and received...just cuts down on the amount of traffic the teams have to read and act upon

- Weekly, the newsletter could have a generalized report or overview of the week's progress and common bug fixes. This would save community managers time answering multiple inputs about the same bug

As a customer, I am guilty of most of these in the past, but we should all try to help ED make progress and be patient with OpenBeta woes...cheers!

Sorry about that, Let me rephrase my statement...I mispoke for sure...I should have said that differently. Thanks for pointing this out RaTzo. People are just complaining when something is broken when they chose to use OpenBeta.

I still have a 16 roll-pack of Unicorn toilet paper with genuine Rainbow scent fully sealed. Will trade for a 9700k (or comparable) rig with 64gigs of DDR4, at least a 1tb nVME SSD and a 2080Ti in it rainbowdashwink.png

Then I might not care about an performance increasing update anymore... rdlaugh.png

Meanwhile, I do things that work in low-fps environment (= no MP, no high action miz) or run my old dec 4th version that I still have and enjoy the Jiffypop coasting at 300+kts in the weeds without thrust icon_redface.gif

PS: Hint for the mods: You guys should consider having a sticky "Ask 'When do we get the next update?' here" thread, so you might not have to tidy up the other two or even new ones as often... icon_exclaim.gif

Generally speaking the updates arrive when they arrive.

I understand that it is very frustrating to wait for the next, when the current one is giving you a few extra issues, but that's how it is at times.

One thing I could get behind is having a bit of a statement (like the Hornet/Viper Mini Updates) 'teasing' at what is coming up if the 'usual' update cycle gets delayed.
