Cpt Stark Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Is he making a skin for the cockpit or has you guys cracked the Lo-Code;) only new skin ;) 1
Sabertooth Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 Yep, just a new skin like the ADA mod. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HubMan Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Yep, just a new skin like the ADA mod. :) Do not hesitate to ask if you need some help about it by the way :) Our hands are already really full with the AdA Mod v2, but we will be glad to share the tricks we used :) Good luck with your project, it looks incredibly promising :) Hub. - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sabertooth Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 Racer:"I have finished mapping the front nose gear system." Racer:"The landing gear texture mapping is now completed. Now on to the final texture mapping area....the cockpit." And Hub we appreciate it. I am sure we will be in contact with you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sabertooth Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Racer:"Finally...all of the modelling and texture mapping is completed. Uggg...I hate that part. Total Final Polygon Count: 47,862 Now, on to the animations. The end is in sight." [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sabertooth Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Tomcat almost ready for public release??? Badger is working hard on all of the skins for her that is for sure. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DaveTs Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Great news..., sabertooth there's a release date? Tomcat comes with own cockpit? Comunidad Hispana de Simulación - http://www.simulacion-esp.com
Azrayen Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Hi Are the spoilers animated on the airbrakes arg# ? I'm far for being a Tomcat specialist, but it feels weird IMO... The cat isnt' a liner... Well, perhaps it's how it really works... Just wanted to point it to the dev team, for additionnal check :) ++ Az'

Aeroscout Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I actually believe they are roll spoilers and work with the ailerons/tailerons. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
USSR_Gys71 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Tomcat has no ailerons, so it utilizes spoilers for rolling. You must use ailerons args for spoilers animation.
snowbird2 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Clarification....The spoilers are coming up slightly as the flaps are full down for improved roll control. I have seen Tomcat pictures showing this and many may have sen this looking out the window in passenger jets. You can see the spoilers popping up and down for roll control at slower speeds. No ailerons is correct. Edited June 14, 2008 by snowbird2
USSR_Gys71 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 The tail control surfaces on F-14s are known as "rolling tails", in that the aircraft does not have ailerons on the wings to control roll. Roll control is instead provided at low speeds by wing-mounted spoilers and at high speeds by differential horizontal stabilizer deflection. This configuration also produces side force, or yaw, which contributed to the inadvertent spin entries. This large tail configuration is to aid in takeoff from aircraft carriers, by providing more pitch moment. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/f-14-design.htm In LO spoilers will be working allways. But this is better than they would not work. ps and Tomcat does not have ailerons :)
Azrayen Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 In LO spoilers will be working allways. But this is better than they would not work. Well, if spoilers are used only at low speed, you're right, one can't reproduce this exactly in LO. But one may try to animate the spoilers on the upper side of the ailerons arg# : arg# value => spoiler pos. (°) 0=>0° 0.5=>still 0° 0.75=>15° 1=>30° (in this example, I assume that spoilers full extention is 30°). In the same time, and on the same arg#, one may animate the "rolling tail", using this time the full argument range. Cheers Az'
USSR_Gys71 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I think in this example spoilers will be work later and very quickly :)
Sabertooth Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 Ladies and Gentlemen, she is on her way. She should be hitting the Beta Teams this weeks. I give you the frontline fighter of the United States Navy. Your F-18F Super HORNET!!!!! Racer:"Hook down and pouring on the lift! All tail surfaces are now completly animated. Just the gear, cockpit and lighting left...mmmmmmm" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Very good looking Hornet! I'm impressed! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HungaroJET Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Hey Sabertooth: Will the TOMCAT has Glove Vane ? http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-glovevane.htm Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. To be flown below the radar, to bring the enemy his fate. HAVE A BANDIT DAY ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. Starlight Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Hey Sabertooth: Will the TOMCAT has Glove Vane ? they modelled the D version, and the gloves were removed or simply locked shut from late A, A+ (B), D versions
Sabertooth Posted June 15, 2008 Author Posted June 15, 2008 No as stated the D does not use it, also found this info at the top of the site of the link you posted. "Glove Vanes are a kind of stabilizers for supersonic flight. They were designed for the F-14A, the F-14D does not feature such devices. They are retracted at subsonic speeds and will be extended automatically when going supersonic. " [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Azrayen Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 By the way, (supersonic) speed isn't an available data when you're about to animate a 3D model for LockOn. We encounter this "loss" on the future Mirage 2000. If anyone can proove me wrong, I'll be very happy of that ! :) Very nice work on the SuperBug, best wishs for a not-too-painful testing & debugging time ;) Cheers Az'
snowbird2 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Well, I have created our first varient off the FA-18F aircraft. The FA-18F Tanker. This model has been placed over the IL-78M tanker AI plane. I have also lined up the basket to now hook up to our right side fuel probes on both the FA-18F and the F-14D. This plane has a 380 gal. centerline tank and 4-480 gal. tanks. This new mod works very well and looks very cool. Edited June 18, 2008 by snowbird2 1
