Since the last update the speedbrake does not work correct. It is mapped on the 3 way switch under the com switch on my thrustmaster warthog throttle:

forward = extend brake permanet

middle = retract brake

back = extend until release switch

this works perfect in the stable! It also works with the F16 in OB, but the 18 is bugged now - brake does not retract anymore

I could not test it yet, but my mapping is:

aft: extend gradually (momentarily switch position)

middle: stop at current position

fwd: retract

Like in the real plane

your binding is _AFU_

you have both the extend button and retract button bound to extend the speed brake

and to retract the speed brake you have to hold right shift and back on the switch

see attached pic to see what it should look like

My setting works in stable! The shift you see is because I use a target script (gizzys profile) Don't have to hold shift on the kb. It works in stable, and also the F16 works with that mapping in OB. So something seems to be wrong with the last patch.

@Gripen: the bindings that are visible on your screen look weird to say the least (I agree with Squid). And the commands you say you have implemented are nothing to do with the real thing:

forward = extend brake permanet

middle = retract brake

back = extend until release switch

I do not use Target any more and I'm not going to try to understand your logic. So, sorry I can't help. I use the speedbrake switch on the throttle the way it's intended, and that works fine. So don't be surprised that nobody else has "the problem"!

Same here. After the last update I'm forced to press twice the switch for extension lot of times.

Same. Noticed that the first time somewhere in summer, and it's still there. I use the TMWH and have the speedbrake mapped as the real thing, so forward rectracts (switch stays there and by official practice I keep it there so it won't pop out by itself), back extends and center does nothing so it just keeps the current state.

The thing is: As mentioned I keep the switch forward after retracting. Now when I directly pull it back to extend, it doesn't work anymore, but it always did until it broke. When it doesn't work, recentering and pulling back the thing again makes the brake pop out finally. But it's also possible to prevent the problem from happening by not flying with the thing in the forward position (that wouldn't be by the book though) or waiting in the center position for a second or two before pulling the thing all the way back - but well, then there's that delay.

I might take a track of that later and up it here.

I have it mapped as another here does.

Forward (the toggle position) to retract/off.   (I think this is your issue)

Middle position has no bind assigned in Hornet controls

Aft (the momentary switch) to extend.

Works just fine for me - works the exact same as it did when the Hornet was first released in pre-purchase period (a year ago or whenever that was now).

For the record - I don't have to hold "shift" as you say in your post.......  No idea why one would assign that, seems incredibly odd.

I also agree with another, you keybinds don't look correct - but I don't use TARGET software, as it seems to have zero benefit for DCS.

You are not alone. Mine is the exactly same and also now in the latest Stable also does not work as we have defined.

Same problem here using DX128 commands. It is not Target that is the problem, but how ED have changed the retract brake link. The way it is working now is as the default works without without defining a different key.

I want to configure the speedbrake as follows:

- push a button and as long as I hold it, it goes up

- push a button and as long as I hold it, it goes down

- push a button once, and it closes.

I wanted to use the following controls for that:

image.png

For EXTEND/LShift + B it works like a charm (I push and it extends as long as I push the 4 way button in that direction).

For RETRAC/LCtrl + BT it works like an OFF function (I press once and it goes all the way in. The only way to prevent it going in it to push forward).

OFF/B doesn't work at all, I press the button and the speedbrake stays out.

Buttons tested via Virpil test tool & button confirmed working in DCS Controls.

I would expect EXTEND and RETRACT to work similar but opposite of each other (keyboard controls seem to suggest too). But they don't, which seems like a bug.

The fact OFF doesn't work is clearly a bug?

OFF does not mean "Retract". It means "stop the movement" or "Hold". And that's exactly what it does. This works perfectly with a 3-position ON1-OFF-ON2 switch like the speedbrake switch on the TM WH throttle. If you can mimic this on the VIRPIL throttle:

The forward position should be bound to "Speed Brake Switch - RETRACT/OFF"

The aft position should be bound to "Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND". This is a bit of a misnomer. It should be named "Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND/OFF.

If you want to use 3 pushbuttons per your description, you can do that too. Bind:

Pushbutton 1:  Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND

Pushbutton 2: Speed Brake Switch - RETRACT/OFF

Pushbutton 3: Speed Brake Switch - RETRACT

As you will see, there is no bug. You just didn't figure out what the 4 speed brake bindings do.
