DCS has voices for radio communications in Chinese, Russian and English. In light of the release of the map of Syria, it would be great to expand the list somewhat.

Hebrew, Arabic, Turkish? I thought that flying up to Ramat David at f16 under the Israeli flag would be logical to hear Hebrew.

Or am I dreaming and wrong? How possible is this?

Communication between civilians? Yes, english language is standard for commercial/civilians pilots. But I don't think military pilots follow this rule. Thats the point.

ED is working on a whole new comms system. Lets make sure they get it right before adding other languages.

@Dagger71: you are correct. English is the universal language of Civil & Commercial aviation around the world.

English is only spoken if foreign aircrafts are on your international airports. If its a local pilot and a locla airliner or soemone that speaks teh local language english is NOT used.

That Said when we do joint exercises we do use English Brevity Code ;)

In this state of ATC comms, it wouldn't be hard to implement other languages since atc can talk only 3-4 sentences

FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15EF-4| Tornado

Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60

Other languages would be very handy for other eras like WW2. Authentic German ATC and wingman communications with the old brevity codes would be super cool. And how about Swedish? Did the Viggen pilots speak English during the cold war?

+1 to improving the current ATC system in English and, only once/if resources allow it, start thinking about other languages

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3

They did when working with other NATO countries. There's no Sweden on other DCS maps, nor much in term of other Swedish assets, meaning that would indeed be the case.

Personally, I don't really see the appeal until a major (and yes, major) overhaul of the current ATC systems, as they are very dated and no less lacklustre.

Supercarrier was a big improvement, but we only have an initial implementation at the moment (incorrect marshal names for different ships, everything on 1 frequency, all ships have the same voices, pilot voice is inconsistent etc).

What other Swedish assets are there? AI Draken? (No news on it for a long time though), I guess you could approximate an Strv122 with the Leo 2A6...

TBH, I don't know of any, but since I don't remember the whole list of DCS assets, I couldn't say for certain. We'll have the AI Draken... eventually.

In fact, this is the reason I don't have the Viggen. Any scenario including it on any of the maps we have available would be rather contrived, seeing as it was never exported, and Sweden kind of lost their taste for expeditionary warfare after getting clobbered in the Great Northern War.

As others have eluded to, English is the common language of aviation. But it's not required to use. It is common to hear the local language used on all sorts of military and civil ATC channels for "local" traffic with English used for foreign aircraft.

I know I'm late on this, but I'd also like some Swedish with my Viggen (tack så mycket ED!) and English English as opposed to American English (no offence meant) as a switchable option would be nice too. 🙂
