Feuerfalke Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I just stumbled upon this new product "jDome": It's a half-spheric projection-screen to simulate a wider FOV. With the current setup, primarily aimed at the Ego-Shooter-market, the peripheral vision looks rather fish-eyed, but I think it has a great potential with a reasonable price for us simmers. Boberro Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 EEh I would like to stay with LCD flat monitor\TV than have un-natural picture which is long draw out... Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
VS461 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 jDome Nice! If it won't be so expensive and have no distortion and no palm-sized pixels... I've seen some PowerPoint presentations projected from the back side of the "wall"... :no_sad: That jDome must be built from some very special material to have enjoyable screen. There must be a personal experience :). And how can I put my future touch screen kit like Urze's? Or use virtual reality gloves?:D THX! За всю историю никто и никогда не сумел завоевать Афганистан. Feuerfalke Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Thanks for moving. Actually thought I had posted it on the techy-forums. MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
Shaman Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 TrackIR and large widescreen TV/screen is still a winner to me :) To be honest, pilots wear helmets, and with their visor down, they need to do a lot of headwork too :) I'm good with limited vision caused by widescreen limited area. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Woodstock Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Has anyone already tested if LockOn can be extended to the required 180° FOV and how it then behaves concerning zoom and TIR? "For aviators like us, the sky is not the limit - it's our home!"
eurofor Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 That thing wouldn't fit on my desk and I'm quite happy with my monitor. Maybe this could be interesting for those building cockpits? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
G3 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Has anyone already tested if LockOn can be extended to the required 180° FOV and how it then behaves concerning zoom and TIR? a very good ?, i think my reliable max was 175 with a very big fps hit. that dome needs some bending software or lense to pre distort the image to match the dome, this looks like a compromise with stretched peripheral vision. but the point made is fair enough, you only need to see movement in an fps shooter, and the th2go isnt much better at such a big fov, definte potential there.
Vekkinho Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Nice idea but image is pretty distorted and IMO not very good for Simulators of any type where aspect and perspective mean a lot! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I saw this over at E for All, (or something similar) here's a pic [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CoNa Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 While we're at it...... Rather have one of these....but the price is probably not the same. Those cockpit setups are looking sweeeet. http://www.immersivedisplayinc.com/index-3.html http://www.immersivedisplay.co.uk/html/products.html
rocketeer Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 They look immersive up close, I was there at the E for All too. But none of these are going to be within our budget for the home, even if we have the space. My A10C cockpit thread
Deadman Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 That the company that has taken over for Elumens that went out of business. The picture posted above by SKF is an Elumins dome https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
