Not sure if my setup - but DCS 2.7 seems to take a lot longer to load.

Stable version takes around 5-10 seconds from double clicking the desktop icon to loaded, 2.7 takes around 30 - 40 seconds. Both are installed on the same SSD. After double clicking the beta icon the taskbar icon seems to 'pulse' green a few times.

No way! 30-40 seconds?

I mean, really?

C'mon! Yes, it takes longer, for me it is measured 38 seconds, but c'mon man, not a biggie, or is it? Really?

AND it is not a BUG, it is a feature of the NEW DCS version.

Maybe your platform is stable and does not require a restart after changing missions or aircraft./

We all have different experiences of DCS.

It will become one when it is declared as one. Prior to that, it's a bug.

If you haven't yet, add these folders as exceptions in your antivirus software. It may speed up loading times:

  • \DCS World\
  • \DCS World OpenBeta

removed Saved Games folders from the list

While the above makes it 8 seconds faster for me,

  • C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\
  • C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\

Does not have any effect, and not recommended by the nature of the location where you would most likely put downloaded files to (such as .miz files) that could be potentially malicious.

  • Thanks 1

Thanks for your test. I had never tried one witout the other.

You're right. Moreover, there are no executable files nor DLLs in the Saved Games folder.

Does your anti virus not scan any files you download automatically? Or before you run/incorporate them into whatever program you are running carry out a manual scan?

Yes - for me it is. Startup is now 8 times longer. Say in the future - v2.8 - is rolled out. Startup takes 8x longer again - 4 minutes - no biggie?

I have not meassured the loading times and only use the beta with a SSHD, but I got the feeling that it improved a bit with the recent update "DCS 2.7.1.6430 Open Beta - 20.05.2021".

In the versions before I realized increasing loading times.

wishlist: HH-60G Pave Hawk, MH-60R Sea Hawk, UH-60L Black Hawk, NH90, Super (Sea) Lynx / Mk.88, ME: A placeable animated LSE/marshaller for individual created FARPs

With last update went from 27 seconds from Win to DCS main menu to 47 seconds; and when exiting DCS to Windows it takes longer too than before. And i always have DCS folders as exception on Windows Defender. 😞

About carrier ops: "The younger pilots are still quite capable of holding their heads forward against the forces. The older ones have been doing this too long and know better; sore necks make for poor sleep.'

DCS takes some time to populate its "fxo" folder when starting. So if you're emptying this folder before starting DCS, you will have long loading times.

Please attach your latest "dcs.log" file ( C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Logs\dcs.log - may appear as "dcs" ). I will compare it with mine.
