The only real difference is the voice-overs. The cockpit will probably be played by most in russian with english tool-tips. So you don't get the english tooltips--but you have the manual! At least you could practice start-ups. That really gives you a good understanding of the pit. Lots of checks, etc. If I didn't already have it, being part of the team, I would definately try to get my hands on the russian version!

The difference between Russian and English edition of FC was complete change of all items related to language. Including tooltips, mission descriptions and unit names in meinit.xml.

I will get it for the sake of support :smartass:, dont wanna give a blankocard to ED, but let us be honest, where we get some good combat simualtion from??? Microprose??? Spectrum Holobyte??? EA Janes???

So I will buy the russian the international DL and a international DVD!!! :pilotfly:

Because I wanna have some decent simulator software in the next 20 years, and not just this mainstream FPS stuff(Ubishit), which can be mastered by everyone!

Yes, I do think I will buy the Russian version. I guess it will as usual be impossible to resist buying it.

Whether my wife will learn Russian to or file for divorce, is still an open question :D

It would be nice to get some word on the ETA of the English language demo from ED. If they think it is "imminent" then I think the wisest choice is to hold off and make the most of the demo and manual in preparation for an early new year release.

If the demo is months away, learnig russian begins to look a little more attractive!

I'll repeat my advice:

Unless you know Russian, wait for the western release and spare yourselves the frustration of operating a complex aircraft without instructions that are understandable to you.

I guess GG is right. A quote from GG during my first online flight:

No disrespect intended, but that's easy for you to say, being a tester and all ;)

Me - Contrary to what my common sense tells me - I'm in all probability gonna buy the Russian version and valiantly plough my way through the producers' notes, babelfish and a lotta help from Russian Buddies and see if I can at least just start her up.......yes - such is the level of my anticipation that I am willing to go to such lengths......and in the absence of an English manual in the foreseeable future, do what's gotta be done :)

Yes, you can do it with the help of of the producer's notes I think; my statement stands.

The producer's notes are, IMHO, the tip of the iceberg, even though Matt is cramming them as full of information as possible. :D

(Then again, for basic operations I suppose tip of the iceberg is all you need)

Besides... you can start a mission with "engines running" or choose a "quick mission". Just raise the collective and off you go! No need to immitate Wags' moves as per "Producer's Note 1" :-)

There is something like Google or Babelfish translations, if that doesn't work, I only have to take the lift to the 7th floor, where my colleagues of Slavonic Studies are. No doubt a pretty research assistant will learn me all about Russian. And BTW I'm looking for an excuse to meet her anyway :D

If I were you I would not count on ON-LINE translators, as many times I've used it to double check, I Laughed My Bottom Off... So, go straight to the Slavonic Studies... don't forget to smile ;)

Yes, he is a Beta tester, and having experience as a beta tester, he's kindly giving you advice based on that experience...

(Going back to my analogy about monkeys with typewriters - Yes, you might get profficient in the end, but it would probably be quicker to just wait for the English version...)

Cheers.

I think as long as there are no compatibility issues with mi computer and a Russian program I will buy the Russian version. I have been trying to learn Cyrillic for over a year and this hopefully will actually help me.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

I'm gonna buy both versions, then I might even learn some Russian until the release of the English version.
