Sadly, GPU fail has been confirmed. Hopefully RMA will yield a replacement GPU .

Right now RTX 2060SUPER,  which I got two years ago, is 2X to 3X more expensive then what I paid two years ago. Like RTX GPUs are an investment vehicle, instead of a consumer item.

Yes, that sucks man. Sorry for the faulty GPU!

Hope you learned something about hardware failures though! Good Luck with the replacement!

I've had an older AMD GPU fail in a similar way, after working well for years. I don't know if thermal paste has gone bad or something, seemed it the chip was overheating, but the radiator was still relatively cool. It just happens sometimes, hope you can get it replaced.

I don't see what I learned from a GPU fail. Learning would be for me knowing how to prevent GPU failiure in future. There is nothing I can do to prevent my next GPU from failing, as I do not know what caused this one to fail. It was not overclocked, or modified. It was never used for mining. It has good airflow. As far as I know, same thing could happen again and there little to nothing I can do to prevent it.  So this is not a learning experience. I might even cynically believe that planned obsolescence was built into GPU, by Nvidia, that limits its service. However the failiure I encountered has been experienced by  many other owners of 2060S, 2070, 2070S, 3060, 3070ti. From 3 months to year of usage. So it seems this QA issue at Nvidia.

Learn to listen to what people say. Learn to not prematurely put blame on someting (the game in this case) when you have no clue.

You were still blaming the game and insisting that your hardware "worked fine" when you had several answers suggesting your hardware at fault due to the failure pattern.

Well, I can see several points to learn from your experience.
1. Hold your guns. Don't shoot before asking.
2. Listen to advice, like @Hiob writes.
3. Apologise when wrongfully blaming others.

You man enough to do it?

a great capitalist once said "never design a lightbulb that will last forever".

in all seriousness though. about 10 years or so ago, dell release a new model of optiplex. they had gotten a pile of capacitors from a company that was not doing proper quality control. some of the capacitors failed under load and dell had to replace lots of system boards. so it does happen unfortunately.

Nvidia is somewhat infamous for using cheap crappy thermal pads on their cards.

I wouldn't be surprised if the card is "repairable" by just replacing them. That's just speculative of course and doesn't make a difference if one is uncomfortable with disassembling electronics.

One thing you could learn from this is that electronic components can (and do) sometimes fail, seemingly at random. The MTBF is not the same as the expected lifespan of a product.

That's not really an answer. There has to be something actionable. "S**T Happens" is insufficent.
