@edmuss

When you say "bubbly artifacts" in the MFD, are you referring to the apache?

I have one artifact that kinda grinds me the most, and it's the one in the middle of the MFD on the engine page of the apache.
If I switch to TSD or any other page the artifacts goes away or greatly reduced. And it's mostly noticeable if I pan my view side to side. The green columns "wiggles" or whatever you wanna call it.

There are so many abbreviations floting around now I'm getting dizzy. And for only having had the G2 set for roughly a week, It get's kinda overwhelming 😂

SVR, OXR, WMR4SVR, WMRP.

Toolkit for OXR x 2, developer settings for SVR etc. On top oft his again we have different versions of the actual Mixed Reality Portal, one from Steam and one from Microsoft Store.

No, I was getting them in the A10.  I think all helos in DCS suffer from reprojection artifacts because of rotor shadows, when the frames are changing very quickly it just can't accurately guess what's meant to be where so you end up with inconsistencies.  In certain lights I get bubbly reprojection on the horizontal panels in the KA50 because of the shadows, this is largely why I've tuned it to be able to run without reprojection on.  I almost daren't try the apache because I suspect that it's going to be a horror show!

See my tuning guide for some of the abbreviations 😄

So I have got it all working but now notice that my 64GB's of RAM quickly fill up whenever I choose upscaling in the OXR Toolkit. It takes less than a minute, followed by W10 choking on memory compression, CPU going up to 30% and DCS FPS dropping to 4-7, followed by a DCS crash.

Tried both FSR and NIS on default settings.

But what's eating the ram?  If it only happens when upscaling is enabled then I would look to uninstall and clean out the OXRTK before reinstalling latest version from fresh.

I think @lefuneste01 was looking at an apache rotor replacement?

Before you clean it out, if it's repeatably only happening when upscaling is enabled then the devs might want to have a look into it, ping mbucchia on the discord channel as he might want to look into it?

I would guess to uninstall first and then it may be necessary to clean out registry keys, probably best to seek guidance on discord.

Wow - lots of positive reaction to this tool.  Before I embark down this rabbit hole, a quick question that I didn't see answered.

Does this require Steam?  I don't run DCS from steam at all.  I have a Rift-S and use the Oculus Tray Tool and default Oculus software to control the headset.

Thanks.

This does not require Steam, in fact, that's the whole point of using this tool as it removes the need for running through Steam.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this (or I could just have missed it in this extensive thread) but I tried this and then went back to SteamVR for stability issues. I was getting CTDs when:

1. Trying to change any key bindings while in a module. Would freeze every time I hit save

2. Random and intermittent CTDs that never happened (or happen) on SteamVR

Going back to SteamVR alleviated both of those aforementioned issues.

That being said, I am about to do a clean upgrade from Win10 to Win11, mostly out of boredom, and may try this again with a fresh install. But I had done a repair and clean beforehand, so I'm not sure what would have been causing those issues anyway.

Have a trawl through the thread, it has been applied to the quest2 by a couple of users.  I don't think the performance is improved over the oculus runtime but I think the image quality is better?

Ok, another small "issue".

As I said earlier, I`m very sensitive to FPS changes or stutters.

Anyone else has this small "micro jumps" in frames. When looking out to the side, sometimes it looks like the "world" or ground skipps a beat.

This is happening regardless if it`s Caucasus or Nevada. High up in an A-10 or down low with the apache. MR at 30, 45 or unlocked does not change anything.

- I have been having Crash To Desktop happening to me as well while using this.

- I have noticed an odd radius while flying over water where the textures of the water up close are odd. There is a defined ring in the water around my aircraft while flying.

- My CRT's in the Hornet suffer occasionally with odd graphic glitches

- Looking to the side can cause stuttering

- I had to force Reprojection locked to 45 to avoid severe lag when flying near other players, particularly bad when approaching an airfield.

- Using the zoom / spyglass in VR would cause sever lag. Locking Reprojection to 45 helped fix this.

Just making sure that you do have motion reprojection set to always on in the OXRDT?

I don't think there have been many reports of CTD, mine has certainly been rock solid for the last 4-5 releases; I haven't had crashes as such but it's been things like the headset recentre and cross eyed displays - those are all fixed now though.

Did you completely clean and repair DCS, removing any spare files and clear out your fxo and metashaders?

I did a full clean / repair using the DCS updater with the command switches. I am not familiar with clearing out fxo and metashaders though.

(side note based upon another comment someone made: I am on a G2).

just go to your c:\users\<your_username>\Save Games\DCS.openbeta.    and rename fxo to fxo.1 and metashaders2 to metashaders2.1

they'll automatically rebuild themselves...   easy peasy...

In the right hand tab of the in headset menu there is an option for offset, adjust that until the menu lines up in the middle. I think mine is set to around -120 in my G2.

You shouldn't be getting the main display cross eyed though unless you're using an old version. Make sure that you have PD1.0 set in the VR tab in DCS, anything else will throw it out.
