Hello,

I am quite new here, I am basically a 3D artist, but I sometimes play simulation games too.

18 months ago, I did an Orel class carrier for another simulation software.

Many of you may wonder what this carrier is. It is indeed a carrier concept designed by USSR in the 70s.

Featuring steam catapults, it would have carried and launch Mig-23K, Mig27K, Yak-44E, Mig-29K and Kamov Ka-27.

Most of these aircraft were concepts (except Ka-27), or were used for testing purpose (Mig-27K) or even mock-up (Yak-44E).

As you understand, this addon is a what-if mod, based on various concepts.

That being said, it didn't found an audience on this other software and I was wondering if some of you here would be interested by it :

I have zero experience with DCS modding, but I would be happy to learn, if some of you would like this aircraft carrier.

Please note that it is a fully freeware model, no business here.

Looks really nice, but at least on my side I prefer ships that actually served and have a certain combat record. On the other hand, a carrier is the most complex DCS ship type, and for a first Mod it may be too daunting to attempt. Maybe it would be easier to start with a cold start era cruiser like the Sverdlov-class, it would be very useful as DCS currently has nothing like that on its arsenal.

Radium: I believe if you could get this working in DCS many would be delighted to see it, and they would use it.  Its a huge project for your first but I wish you all the luck and hope you find enough interest amongst the membership.

was it a Thirdwire sim?

I really did my best to find relevant sources about what it would have been like. I even did custom Mig-29K, from blueprints I got. Yak-44E is also here !

Appreciate this thread is now quite old. Did this ever go anywhere? I’d love to have the asset if it went public/available
