This is the F-4E with a RN skin on Hermes without the folding wings. Still working on the skin for the F-B/C with the folding wing.

While it's correct that Hermes never deployed with the Phantom it might be fun for "What if" scenarios. Same with my FRS.1 SeaHawk😂.

I'm all in to help if anyone want to do a Sea Vixen and or Buccaneer. Even if they are only ai.

I got the U.K. Livery working for the F-4 B/C. Thanks again for the links/info.

I'll post my F-4K lua and a runway lua for Joey's Hermes after a little more testing

I've been flying the F-4C for awhile now, in the A/A config. It's fun and all, but then I decided to try bombing runs...did you know it can carry 24 Mk 82?

 

Heh heh heh....

 

Turn left switch to ripple, right switch to "all", master arm on...so awesome to watch 24 Pickles of Doom™ fall away and WHOOOMP WHOOOMP WHOOOMP in a good ground coverage! So much fun!

 

Tomorrow I'll try to aim at something LOL!

This mod is a jewel. Best rewarding ever after an AIM7 kill 😀

Got a question about head or hud placement, in A/A mode my gunsight (F-4C) is not even visible at 600 knots and 0 AOA and 15 degs nose down (looks like the gunsight is one or two gunsight sizes above the top of the hud) and my gun rounds go there where no gunsight is present (almost straight to the top of the hud and then falling down). Is this behavior correct?

And back to the gunsight topic, for A/G mode is there any bombing table with MILS depresion, speeds, alts, etc? Or any good tips for bombing with some accuracy.

Easiest solution is to use the raise/lower view commands to adjust your seat height to get the proper view of the hud.   Added benefit is that not only can adjust so you see the full sights, you can raise your view to get a better look at the deck during landings.   I am sure you can create pre-set key bindings but I never bothered.

I do not recall any tables for weapons for this particular mod but when you drop 16 snake eyes at once you will probably get a hit!

I can lower the view to see the sight (A/A) more centered in the hud, but no matter what I do, my gunpod rounds never cross the center of the gunsight. They don't even get into the inner gunsight circle 💁‍♂️

Don't know about A/A guns, but for A/G stuff it's advised to create your own tables. Start with a dive angle (10⁰, 20⁰, etc), an airspeed (I often found myself doing 550 kias), and release altitude (1500'-2000')...get "in the perch", your position right before diving and then dive, matching dive angle, airspeed, and the moment you get to release altitude hit "active pause" and release one bomb. When it hits, dial the mils until it sits right on the point of impact. Record this setting, and reset the approach again, checking everything matching, active pause again and check for impact.

 

Do this on the same angle, airspeed, etc noting any differences (airspeed 545 instead of 550, etc) and you will develop a number that you can use, and can adapt according to your  approach parameters.

Thanks 342, bracketting the target with the pipper that way is what I try most of the times, but usually with very poor results or no results at all. For straffing, A/A mode is fine as long as you use the bottom of the gunsight as reference and not the center.

the F-4E is made by Heatblur, while this Mod is the work of VSN and @PeeJott17, so I don’t understand what you mean by "in connection" ?

They are not identical:

one is free, the other will cost you,

one can land on a carrier, the other not,

one has simplified systems, the other is full fidelity,

one allows multicrew, the other SP only.

 

I’m sure there are other differences, but these are the main ones

No, the only "identical" has the name.

  • VSN F-4B/C has a mod, maked by the comunity, free, with simplified system, weapons and FM, without multicrew, carrier capable, ussing mod tools.
  • Heatblur F-4E, has build by a 3rd party, under a signed contract with ED to make the module and sold them on DCS World, with access to the DCS World develop kit tools (SDK), and develop support by ED. Has Full Fidelity weapons, systems, radar, damage model, FM and full multicrew. If HB make a F-4B/N on the future, that will be carrier capable with the same features of a F-4E, with the propper FF UsNavy systems, and surely if HB implement SC on Forrestal CV, some interesting features. HB F-4 module will be improved with more features apply on DCS World core.

About HB F-4E, only need check the "inherent complexity" of the actual FF module:

Meanwhile VSN team has making a great work building the F-4B/C, and not bad in a future, has interesting to make a "jump" to some more advences, as convert on 3rd Party with propper modules.

Patch Version 2.9.4.205
- new collision model 
- new suspension code 
- refined 3d-externals (ramps and intakes etc.)
-changed afterburner texture/animation
- new custom weapons AGM-45A-10 and B-10 

- jammer functionality 

- ATT-Hold Trimm 
- slightly reduced trim-inputs
- refined ALT-Hold-AutoPilot (still not good)

I just did the update and the radar doesn't work anymore. Anyone else? Or is it just me. I am very open for what I personally did wrong here 🙂

What you have is the link to the patch from 2.8.7.204 to 2.9.4.205.

So, first download the 2.8.7.204 stand alone version and then apply the 2.8.7.204 to 2.9.4.205 patch. Just extract the zip contents of the patch on the ...\Mods\Aircraft\VSN_F4 folder that you should have after unzipping the 2.8.7.204 stand alone version in the ...\Mods\Aircraft folder.

Well i downloaded everything fresh 204 and added the 205 and the radar does not work so i am guessing it probably has something to do with the new DCS update i will stick with 204 for now.
