Has anyone using a Rift managed to force OpenXR? The parameter "--force_OpenXR" does not seem to work for me, instead the game launches in 2D mode. No matter if I  use "--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR" or just the later. When I enable VR only it launches the Oculus runtime, as expected.

Since I experience some issues since the update I wanted to try out the OpenXR Toolkit, but I guess the game does not use it on my end so I won't be able to try that.

I guess it is a mistake, patch date is never set so much forward. I wrote to bignewy to check it.

Edit: 1st March is correct, I expect MT arrival.

WMR reprojection (allways on) has worked for me since the initial fix.
Me confused. Am I not using "DCS in native OpenXR mode"?

If you look in your DCS log (Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs folder) and scroll down to find the line:

VISUALIZER (Main): LAUNCH IN VR

The bit after it will tell you if you are running OpenXR in Mixed Reality or OpenVR

Thank you so much you are an absolute legend.

I can confirm that my 8kx worked flawlessly in MP with no crashes or stutters.

Once again thank you!

I've used the OpenComposite so far. How do I get it so use OpenXR. That "Force OpenVR" switch does not work; Gives "Unknown command"

Works fine for me with my Oculus Pro, with both arguments.

Thank you, I've just found out my issue. In case anyone is searching for the same answer, I had a leftover "d3d_compiler47.dll" in my DCS binaries folder that would prevent OpenXR from working.

Now it's time to see if there are any improvements with OpenXR over default Oculus.

Just checking but the command line switch should be "--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR"

Also just checking you are on the latest OpenBeta?

Yes, and yes. Copied and pasted. spaces doublechecked.
PS! I also downloaded that "openVR_api.dll" you linked to earlier.
PPS! That command line was added to the "DCS update"- shortcut. (For OpenBeta)

DCS.exe? I must make another shortcut, and disregard the "DCSupdater.exe"?

No updater, direct for DCS.exe. It doesnt work if you add it to updater shortcut.

Also use repair to be sure that you have native DCS open vr dll file.

I have better idea. Maybe ED and @BIGNEWY wil ask @mbucchia to join and work for the ED Team as representative and specialist in VR? I'm sure he would help solve a lot of cases, optimalizations ideas and we, as VR users, we would know that a great future ahead of DCS in this case. 😍 Just idea but pls think about it :). Maybe you need him?

Thanx a bunch, gentlemen. That took care of my long lasting, and huge confusion. Can't wait to try after work.
Although, it has never ran better than now. Graphics are great, and I just have some microstutter moving head sideways.
It disappears with motion repo activated, or all AA to off. Still hasn't decided if I can live with that rotorjello in tha apache, or not.
Exited to try the real native mode.

Just tried it and it works! I have motion reprojection running with my Reverb G1 and native OpenXR.

VISUALIZER (Main): LAUNCH IN VR OpenXR: Windows Mixed Reality

Thank You!

I will probably regret asking as it will likely make my brain hurt but how did you fix what seemed like a game bug using your toolkit?

It works the same way as OpenComposite - catching and overriding game calls to OpenXR, so the game receives the correct predicted display time.

Got one question:

Ever since the OpenXR-solution appeared in (wasit? ) spring, reprojection on AMD gpus war pretty poor and not bearable for  me.

My retests on the weekend did not show an improvement  for me. In OpenXR there still lots of "raindrops" on my visor.  SteamVR has those also, but to a much lower extent, so it is actually acceptable. But SteamVR has other problems.

Now, it was always written, that those reprojections issues will be resolved. But I somehow guess, that is more a problem of AMD and they would need to resolve it.

Is there any news, if or when those reprojection-problems for AMD-gpus will be fixed? Since it has not been resolved yet, my guess is, that this is not that easy to solve anyway.

I also had my link in the startmenu to DCSupdater.exe. I changed the link to DCS.exe and added --force_enable_VR  --force_OpenXR. Then it worked.
