Love it. Too bad forge can simulate smells.

If special options are added for selection, please keep Random in there as a choice.

No, this has nothing to do with multi-threading.

It's a separate change that was mentioned in the patch notes:

  • Cockpit. MFD surface render increased from 80 to 150 km range

OH! Is that what that meant! That camera images on the MFD could now see out to 150km.

I was really confused by “MFD Surface”

Loaded an old mission and had no FORGE elements. Would be nice if now and then, at least, there weren't any on the ACM panel. Also curious how that was.

As far as I understand that is already how it is, I have had no FORGE elements in newly made missions as well.

Really hope an option comes for no FORGE elements at all. That way those who like it can have it while those that don't aren't forced to.

You now do not want the ability to control it? It sounds like the current implementation will be similar to changing the helmet in the hornet.

I've hidden all of that, it is absolutely not necessary.

Calling out members on what they thought about or not, is not ok. Neither it is ok for everyone else to get into the quarrel.

You will be able to control it, which has been said numerous times. Putting together the jet to your very own likings includes not having any forge elements. It has been said several times now, so continuing to press the matter and calling stuff we do "junk" isn't necessary at all.

Please be kind to each other and please remain courteous in your feedback.

I will also repeat one last time, that whether you like it or not, does not define how Tomcats were in fact. Us giving an option, is a courtesy to you. Forge was announced at the pre-orders already, so this argument that you paid for a clean aircraft, sorry, is moot. You paid for the most accurate representation of a Tomcat, which includes that "junk", and on top of that you will get an option to manage it on your own, which is beyond what we initially promised.

One week after the MT I've only observed a bug in the Tomcat module (only observed in the MT mode): The lack of Jester once you open Jester's menunull (picture 1).

Personally, I've had a pleasant surprise with the addiction of those random cockpit details in the front panel, my favorite one is picture 2. It's just another immersive detail that makes me feel I'm flying a 31 tones 50 old tech jet that could be fixed with a scotch tape.

Thank you, this is a known issue on DCS side, we are working together with ED to resolve it.

When the sun is low in the sky, I think the canopy is milkier/more opaque recently, especially the tinted green glass of the front window.  Am I wrong?  It's probably the MT business. Clarity could be increased by about 15-20%?

EDIT: I think this situation will improve when shadows are fixed.

On the subject of canopy, I'd love canopy fogging to be modelled like the J-17, but I guess that's a distant possibility:

Not sure if this has been noted yet, but on MT, if the sun is low enough to appear in the mirrors, it seems to fluctuate between a large white square and a diffuse haze blob.

Most likely DCS issue. Would be great if you could report in the MT related feedback threads please. Thank you!

Hi guys, has there been an update on this?I know they postponed it to give the spotlight to ED for MT release, and I am not complaining  by any means...But just to know if I did lose something the meantime...

Our apologies that we still haven't published it, we've been neck deep in developing tasks the last couple weeks and did not get to it yet, we hope to publish it soon.

Could you please clarify your statement "It won't be a toggleable option as much as being able to put together your favorite elements, tie them to a livery, and then have that combo for said livery, and you can have as many combos for as many liveries you like." as this gives the impression of having to have such and only being able to select a group rather than have an option for none.

No it doesn’t, particularly if you read back across the previous posts.

Ironmike has said that the current random appearance of these Forge elements is a test bed only; eventually you will be able to define which forge elements appear in an individual jet by what skin is loaded, in the early stages at least, where the appearance or otherwise of various elements will be defined within the description.lua in the livery’s folder.

This means that even if you download a skin that shows a load of forge elements you don’t like it will be a simple enough task to open the .lua up and edit some “1”s to “0”s or “True” to “False” entries (or vice-versa depending on your mood)  and you are done.

Whether there’s an interface in the ME or Specials tab in the options menu to override these settings is a reasonable question but in the greater scheme of things it’s not worth getting one’s underwear in a knot… also why it’s so important that you must be informed now and you can’t just wait and see how the implementation is handled when it gets here like the rest of us, is a feel the greater question.

I disagree that it doesn't give the impression that "none" would be an option. But if that IS given that would be perfect! However, having to edit a file is not giving a proper option of control to users. Having such option in the mission editor or under the special tab would be vastly superior.

As for why it would be important now, that is the very purpose of FEEDBACK.

Sure, but it's kinda difficult to believe that someone can give meaningful feedback on something they've never seen, something they haven't even finished building yet, and based on assumptions that they aren't already doing what they may have said they were going to do.

I'm not updating this anymore. It's safe to assume I have all the stuff, and the stuff for the stuff too. 🙂

Which is the very reason clarification was asked for. No idea why a simple concept seems to be so elusive.
