AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Quite a difference in the pyramids between the trailer and in-game. When you see the trailers you think it's using real-time game footage.... Edited June 9, 2023 by AhSoul 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread
draconus Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 It's not the same view, so what do you mean? 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) It's pretty close to the same angle. Look at the blocks of the pyramid in the trailer. Then look at the layers of the in-game pyramid. The model is way more detailed in the trailer, with fewer layers of much more detailed blocks. Edited June 9, 2023 by AhSoul 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

Hiob Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Different lighting as well. I mean, it is a different time of day in your scene…. Edited June 9, 2023 by Hiob 2 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Why would lighting account for one image having massive blocks organised slightly randomly vs much thinner and more uniform layers? Maybe it's a distance thing and the model changes dramatically just a few feet closer or something. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

Hiob Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Just took a quick look. I would say the impression of the "blockiness" of the blocks depends a lot on the bump map/shadows. From some angles it looks like in the trailer from others like in your comparison shot. Hard to see in a still image. But it very much depends on lighting conditions I'd say. Fastbreak Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Seriously? Graphics quality of the pyramids, sphinx, river banks, ground textures, houses, curvatures etc. pp. looks like Caucaus map in 2009. AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 hmm that's pretty interesting, if the number of layers in the pyramid changes depending on lighting. I've just tried it in bright sunshine, and it's really thin layers of blocks. gonna try it again at dawn [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) I've tried 3 times of day, circling at various distances, and no point does that pyramid render in nice large blocks like that trailer image. All I get is very thin slices per layer. Are my settings wrong? 8 minutes ago, skywalker22 said: Its called optimization, using LODsl. Means with distance, there is less and less details visible, even objects with less poligons, because its not needed to show the most detailed ones. Or maybe you do not use max details possible. I know I can't in VR My settings are high, and I'm 50' away from the pyramid.... Edited June 9, 2023 by AhSoul [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

What does the difference are Normal Map images, which increase the percrption of horizontal and vertical poligons.
AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 The trailer is individually modelled large blocks. I can't get in-game to look anything like it 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

Your and @Hiob's screenshots aren't anywhere near this moment from trailer, quality wise: @OnReTech is it a bug or an omission? AhSoul Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 If it's not going to look the same, the trailer should have a footnote saying 'rendered with non-EA models' or something. If it said that, cool. BTW I think the map looks great. Just bits do seem to jar against the trailer..... 7 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread

As a previous visitor to the pyramids, it was one of the reasons I bought the map - the pyramids in the trailer look very impressive - I assumed reading the post that it was a scenery level of detail issue, but it doesn't appear to be judging by the distances involved. Little bit disappointing! But not the end of the world, unless the rest is that poor too!! 5
