"part of group in zone" misbehaves with "OR" condition and unused "client" aircraft

"part of group in zone" does not behave as expected when used with an OR statement and two groups with only client slots.

Given:

  • Zone named "zone"
  • Client aircraft: "plane1" and "plane2"
  • "plane1" and "plane2" are flying from outside of zone to the inside of zone

Bug1: Trigger Unexpectedly Activates Immediately:

ONCE > PART OF GROUP IN ZONE(plane1, zone) OR PART OF GROUP IN ZONE(plane2, zone) > [[action]]

 

Bug2: Trigger Unexpectedly Never Activates:

SWITCHED CONDITION > PART OF GROUP IN ZONE(plane1, zone) OR PART OF GROUP IN ZONE(plane2, zone) > [[action]]

 

Debriefing log also seems to have some unexpected events:

If plane2 is set to be an AI, both triggers work as expected.

The same kind of issue was reported already. This is a serious problem because it breaks most missions and campaigns. It appeared in the last major patch. No solution from ED yet.

Btw. you dont need create the new topic, just continue the present.

This is good to hear as it seems right now almost all of the recent campaigns for the Hind are affected by this bug right.

Waiting in anticipation as well; been wanting to run missions with my group since December but between the 2.9.1 (now fixed) D/L issues and the 2.9.2 issues with triggers breaking all the ground unit/ai strike interactions, we've run only one mission since then. Hopefully a hotfix will be pushed sometime this week.

Hi, sorry for the wait but you will need to continue to be patient, the team returned from the New years break and are hard at work tweaking and fixing many things, which will then need to be tested internally with the whole of DCS core, its modules and third party modules, and this will take some time. We are looking at a February patch and when I have a date to share I will update the patch status post here on the forum.

We have to add fixes, features, make tweaks, test the whole of dcs core, dcs modules, and all third party modules. 

It takes time.

This is still not fixed? I was adding triggers and wondering why they weren’t working…Is this fix getting pushed in tomorrows update?

Honestly, I haven't checked it, but apparently it's solved. Check for errors in the script. From the last patch (February) nobody reported the issue.

I agree with YoYo.  Check your mission because it has been working fine anywhere I've used it.  Something makes me think that there was an edge case that maybe hadn't been fixed yet, but overall it should work.

Both of you are correct, I was attempting to make a complex trigger based spawn and somehow overlooked a simple fact.
