If you have a look at my post here (look at the alternative solution of that post re: Nvidia Global Profile as is less steps) you can see how to use DLSSTweaks to easily turn on the debug overlay for DLSS. This overlay will show you the DLSS version as well as the preset that is currently used. Switching between the various DCS options will display the preset in use (shown once you're in your plane). 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Qcumber Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I have tried DLSS 3.8.10 and have not noticed any significant improvement from the last version in terms of ghosting in VR using either preset E or F and various scaling settings. I have confirmed this version is running in the DLSSTweaks overlay. Quest Pro with VD and meta link. QVFR set with supersampling so centre resolution is equivalent to about 3300 pixels. Periphery about 1000 pixels. 9800x3d: rtx4070: 64Gb: 2Tb NVME: Rift S: Quest Pro
Silver_ Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Option F eliminates a lot of ghosting but does not cancel it completely. It doesn't matter if you use the latest version of DLSS or the one that comes standard with DCS, the effect is the same. For my part, for now I'll stick with F.
Qcumber Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) An update on my previous post. I have been tinkering with settings and I have noticed that the ghosting effect is worse with sharpening enabled. With no sharpening there is virtually no ghosting. I am using Meta link cable and Quest Pro. Meta link scaling x1. PD x1. QVFR centre at 1.7 (0.3x0.3) periphery 0.5. DLSS 3.8.10 preset E. Quality setting but custom set to 0.9 using DLSS tweaks. I would be willing interested to see if anyone else has noticed this. Edited December 15, 2024 by Qcumber 9800x3d: rtx4070: 64Gb: 2Tb NVME: Rift S: Quest Pro
mmike87 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Interesting. I'll try that tomorrow. I am running pretty high sharpening and the ghosting is terrible no matter how I set up DLSS. 1
HoBGoBLiNzx3 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 DLSS 4 should be out soon. Since I'm assuming official support will be a ways off again and DLSS 4 is usable driver side. Upgrading the lua file should work right? 1

HoBGoBLiNzx3 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 @BIGNEWY Any chance when this gets released we'll get the support for it? Or at least a profile to override the options in the nvidia app? 3

MAXsenna Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Personally I dont like DLSS and DLAA in DCS, too many ghosting still. I’m a conservative, I prefer MSAA .Do MSAA still work? Some reports say it doesn't, I have no idea, I only know the shimmering is really bad on my system. Finally figured out why I couldn't enable DLAA on my system, (and why DCS would crash with newer than a year old drivers +more). Some leftover registry key! OMG! I'm not going back. The ghosting is minimal and much better than the shimmering. Tried TAA first, but then top of lampposts etc. disappear. Not so good for rotor heads. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1

MAXsenna Posted January 8 Posted January 8 what left over registry key and how did you diagnose?I will recheck. I thought I made a post about it, but I can't find it again, so I might have dreamt it.I found out because I Googled the error in the Windows log. I'll check tomorrow in the Chrome history. The term AI smear anti-aliasing is already being popularized. The only AI technology I accept is DLAA. MSAA was nice before DCS 2.5, since then it's pretty much incompatible (it sort of works, sometimes, depends). I don't really like the idea of upscaling either but generally speaking DLSS works very well (though it also depends on the module since more modern aircraft display issues with text rendering when it is enabled). I get 70-90fps with DLSS enabled, depending on how many units are in the mission, and it gets rid of the shimmering so that's a plus in my book. Frame-generation works well in CPU-limited scenarios (which VR at the moment is - at least for me; I am GPU limited in 2D but CPU limited in VR). 1 Spoiler Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | Virpil CM3 throttle | Virpil CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings
