When people buy a product, they expect it to work (even without reading forums, posts or searching for it). I guess that's normal? Its also normal in the IT world that when something doesn't work (so critical issue), developers focus on a patch specifically for it (I work on projects so I know what I'm talking about). An example even from Cayberpunk 2077, where, due to major problems, we received the first patch after a week of the entire game. Then it only got better. Here we hear that there is a plan, but nothing is known. This is a critical error, not some guesswork. If it suits you, of course you can live with it, but I know people who tear their hair out and have no technological knowledge because they can modify files without damaging something else and in the future they will have to undo it. This may cause further problems, it is worth adding, because it is already a certain interference. I would also like to note that the status has changed, it was information - resolved internally, and now we have it reported only. The rest regarding changes to the game, new content, etc. can wait a week or two or so, basically it doesn't matter. We are talking about a rather critical issue for many. We are on page 20 already. Just keep going. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Im following this topic quite closely. Nowhere does that say that it is "reported to Meta". It just says "meta" and "reported" — two unrelated tags. The first is because it is related to meta. The second is that it has been reported to the dev team - the ED dev team. Edited March 28, 2024 by slughead 1 Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. So if you don't know, perhaps it would be sensible to not add to the confusion. @BIGNEWY could you please put an end to all this conjecture that ED has not actually fixed this and instead have reported it to Meta. Then perhaps lock the thread until the patch is released. Thanks. 1 Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. Available now! Maybe you should learn what "I think" means as it already implies that I may not be correct on my statement, therefor there's no confusion to be had. Also, it's not helpful, unless it's hurting your eyeballs, in which case stop reading this thread rather than telling an admin to close it because you're tired of seeing "confusion." Also, if you go back to page 16 someone has a temporary fix that works with oculus link as well as another work around through steamVR that also works. I guess you must have missed that, because rather than complaining to everyone, you should be directing people to that post so that it would actually get them up and running even if only temporarily until the patch is fixed. Instead of complaining about everyone and what they are saying, you would be more helpful in trying to help find a fix for people so they can keep playing. @BIGNEWY Can you please link a post to the temporary fix listed on page 16 by the user: sBinn64 for the oculus link fix. Flappie Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Wow, people, please calm down. I added the "meta" tag and I think I removed the "fixed internally" tag by mistake. I'll add it back right away. All internal testers confirmed that the fix worked for them, so it should work for you as well. 7 2 ---

That's not the issue as some need to actually help people with fixes or solutions rather than just complain about than try to get an admit to close it down because they're tired of looking at the confusion. If they have nothing good or positive to contribute to the conversation and are getting annoyed by everything being said than they shouldn't continue to even look at it much less contribute to it.

Shibiswag Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Everyone here is the link for the oculus link fix. Username is: sBinn64 its about halfway down the page. If you are on PTC V64, make sure to revert back to V63, headset must be on. Make sure 1st you turn off PTC and any automatic updates both in the software and on the headset itself. Turn the Headset off, Turn PTC off, restart the oculus software and you should be back on V63. Turn on the headset and it should also revert. After you are done with that, follow the steps listed in the guide and it should get you up and running. 2 minutes ago, Flappie said: You're welcome. Mike_CK Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 (edited) Things get heated when people can’t play; especially when many of us have paid over $1,000 into all the modules/maps. BUT…ED is going to do what they feel is best and that’s that. They know we are upset, they know there’s a lot of us, they know what they need to do to fix it…and no amount of screaming and yelling and gnashing of teeth is going to make any difference. if they could just “release a hot fix “they would have it’s obviously something more complicated than that; I assume anyway Edited March 28, 2024 by Mike_CK 1
Shibiswag Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 (edited) Prestart Up guide: If you are a fresh install, deleted your DCS(openbeta) saved games folder, or if the game keeps crashing on start up. NOTE: If game is crashing on start-up because it is set to VR in game, please referee to step 5 of prestart up than proceed to steps 1-4,6 Do NOT and I can't emphasize that enough, DO NOT, turn on VR in the game. 1.Make sure you set up everything in 2D first before proceeding to the following steps. AGAIN, DO NOT ENABLE VR. 2.Once you are done with your set up in 2D and have graphics, controllers, sound etc... set up, 3.Go to your options.LUA in the main install config directiory ex: C:/Program files(X86)/Eagle Dynamics/Dcs world open beta/config 4.Open with notepad++ or another text editor that does C or C++ do a search for VR and look for the option that says enable and set it to true 5.To turn VR off without being in the game set it to false. 6.Save the options.lua via File-save This will allow you to turn on and off the VR without being in or restarting the game, which has in my experience caused problems when trying to set it up for both the Link fix as well as SteamVR SteamVR workaround. DO NOT LAUNCH THE GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE IT SET UP IN STEAMVR For the steamVR fix for those that haven't done it yet if the quest link fix doesn't work. For oculus link fix is on page 16 I can't remember what page the SteamVR workaround is on, I will try and find it. It's pretty simple please follow steps below for steamVR: 1. obviously goes without saying make sure you have SteamVR installed 2.(Optional) if you use open composite, make sure you set the runtime to SteamVR 3.Launch SteamVR. 4. Go to settings on the SteamVR pop up, make sure you set SteamVR as the active runtime environment and add OpenXR if you use it. 5. Go to games and add DCS MT to the list make sure you set it to VR. 6. Once done open oculus link as normal and run SteamVR through it 7. Set up your resolution settings and everything in SteamVR 8. Launch DCS through SteamVR. I've been told to turn Turbo mode off to get rid the severely low FPS in game if you use OpenXR toolkit. Edited March 28, 2024 by Shibiswag 1
Mike_CK Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 The steam VR thing works for most of us. The problem is the performance is absolutely horrible, so it’s a no go for me. Others I think are still having trouble with it.

Understand that ED is working the issue, and I'm definitely not a fan of the online arguing. I am only posting this to emphasize that ED needs to put out an official statement instead of thread replies. This is a major issue that is affecting a lot of people; most of which probably haven't even found this thread (took me two weeks). I'd REALLY like to see a statement in the news section of DCS. I usually run at 1.5 in the oculus toolkit with a 88-95 POV I had to set the 1.5 back to 1.0 and my oculus link in the software to about a 0.7 and turned SS to low in SteamVR and set the resolution to that at about 75%. It's not the cleanest picture and once i turned off Turbo mode the game ran smooth, a bit blurry but smooth. Then I found the Oculus Link fix so now I'm running on that.
